Egyptian President Mubarak receives Sudanese FM

CAIRO, Dec 07, 2003 (MENA) — Egyptian President Husni Mubarak on Sunday received Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Uthman Isma’il, who is now visiting here.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Mahir, who attended the meeting, said that Isma’il handed over a message to President Mubarak from Sudanese President Umar al-Bashir.

The message touches on means of boosting bilateral cooperation and the recent developments of the Sudanese peace process along with setting up the African Parliament, to be hosted by Cairo.

After meeting with President Husni Mubarak, Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Uthman Isma’il said that Sudan was passing through a very critical stage.

Egypt, led by Mubarak, is siding with Sudan to help reach a peace agreement and stop war, he pointed out.

Isma’il noted that Sudanese President Umar al-Bashir has entrusted him with a message of appreciation to efforts made by Egypt for establishing peace in Sudan.

Isma’il alluded on this score to the talks between Sudanese First Vice-President Ali Uthman Taha and leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement John Garang in Kenya.
