Rapid Support Forces drones strike Tendelti power plant, cutting electricity to North Kordofan
October 20, 2026 (TENDELTI) – A paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) drone bombed the Tendelti power transformer station in western White Nile state on Tuesday, knocking out the main transmission line to North Kordofan.
Government sources in the Tendelti locality told Sudan Tribune that an RSF drone fired two missiles at the local power facility on Tuesday morning.
The strike ignited a major fire at the plant, which is located in the far west of White Nile state.
Sources reported that the bombing caused a complete shutdown of the facility, cutting off electricity to the city of Tendelti.
Residents in the cities of Um Rawaba, El Rahad, and El Obeid in North Kordofan state confirmed they experienced a power outage that coincided with the strike on the Tendelti plant.
Engineering teams are assessing the extent of structural damage at the facility after successfully extinguishing the fire caused by the bombardment, local sources added.
Both warring factions in Sudan’s conflict—the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the RSF—have recently intensified their deployment of weaponized drones.
Over the past 72 hours, the Sudanese army has targeted RSF positions in Nyala in South Darfur, as well as Abu Zaima, El Dibab, and El Khuwai in West Kordofan.
Meanwhile, RSF drones have attacked military and government installations in the eastern states of Gedaref and Kassala, in addition to striking the perimeter around Khartoum International Airport.
