SABMiller mulls Sudan investment – sources
Mar 07, 2007 (LONDON) — SABMiller PLC is mulling an investment in Sudan as it looks to boost its presence on the African continent, industry sources said.
A spokesman for SABMiller declined to comment on any plans for the country, following press reports the world number two brewer is looking at building a brewery in the south of the country, but said: “We are very enthusiastic investors on the African continent; we have a very big presence, which we are looking at expanding.”
However, industry sources told AFX News SABMiller is considering an investment in the country, although they described the political situation in the troubled African nation as “at best fluid”.
AFX understands that while investigations have advanced past the preliminary stages, no move is imminent.
