Sudanese senior officer killed near site of recent village attack
KHARTOUM, Jan 06, 2004 (dpa) — A senior officer was killed along with other officers in rebel attacks in the Sorra area in Darfur region, a source at Sudan’s Darfur local government Tuesday.
The rebel group Sudan Liberation Movement has held the army and allied militias responsible for killing 200 villagers in Sorra County, an allegation denied by the government.
The executive director for civil administration of Sorra, Abdalla Abdrahman, was also reported to have been captured by the rebels.
The government said, the attack targetted mostly key government personnel in the area.
