EU pledges support to Somalia’s government

January 9, 2008 (ADDIS ABABA) — The European Union has pledged a financial support to the transitional government of Somalia.

EU’s fresh pledge comes after a delegation from the European Union led by the French Ambassador to Kenya, Elizabeth Barber, met Somalin parliament speaker and the acting president Sheikh Aden Madobe and the premier Nor Adde to assure an international support, Somali Net reported from Baidoa.

According to the EU delegation Each Member of the 275 member consisting parliament will receive 1,200 USD per month as asalary but the condition is that all the lawmakers should be available in the parliament sessions.

The delegation also includes the Ambassadors of Britain, Italy, Norway, Belgium and Czech Republic.

The Deligation also had talks with a 14 committee members within the parliament telling them to pay efforts in making the parliament sessions more successful.
