Khalil Ibrahim spoke on Monday morning with the BBC Arabic Service and Reuters assuring that he was speaking from Omdurman.

However JEM spokesperson told Sudan Tribune yesterday that Ibrahim had already arrived to Darfur.

Khalil Ibrahim also warned that his group would stage further attacks on the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

“This is just the start of a process and the end is the termination of this regime,” Ibrahim, whose Justice and Equality Movement attacked Khartoum at the weekend, told Reuters.

Asked how he would be able to get across the river Nile to key government institutions, he said: “I am not empty handed. I took a lot of things from Khartoum – a lot of vehilces, ammunition and money.”

“Many more forces are coming to Khartoum,” he warned.

The government announced since yesterday a reward of $125,000 for information leading to his capture. While, the Sudanese TV broadcasted a photo of JEM leader asking citizens to call a special hotline if they saw him.

Praise God you made it out. But your attack on Khartoum violated all norms military way of thinking. This is not how you can by-pass and dislocate the enemy, it was more like a suicide mission. After all, Khartoum still a city that must be conquered if we have to have a viable Sudan that will accommodate all.

This shameless traitor who sent children soldiers to die for his cheap publicity stunt in the streets of Omdurman, won’t be on the run for long. His foolish act provided the government of national unity with sufficient justification and political leverage to go after him and his gang at full speed, no holds barred.
The sudanese people, whether they are from the east, west, south or north of this vast, rich and beautiful country must liberate the homeland from these warlords who make their living by exploiting the poor and angry children of the Sudan. Many in Khartoum were moved to tears by the sight of these dead children in the streets of Omdurman , for no reason , but to feed the pockets and ego of these types of warlords who have nothing to offer the country but bloodshed and more bloodshed.

We understand that the historical political make up of the Sudan as a country governed from the distant centre has resulted in the marginalisation, poverty and injustice of the various corners of Sudan.

We understand that all sudanese irrespective of colour, religion or ethnicity must be active participants in governance.

We understand that immediate political reform and power sharing in a proper manner must commence in Sudan now if it is to become a successful country.

But the way to achieve these goals is through honest, open dialouge between all the sudanese, NOT the blood of teenagers.

Millions of sudanese martyrs from the south and from the north lost their lives in deaceds of war so that we realize that war is a crime committed by all against all.

It’s time for us to sit down, talk and work towards together building an african success story. And there is room for all of us in our beloved vast homeland. We just have to learn from the past, not carry the hatred, bitterness and racism that got us here in the first place, through to the next generations.

We must follow the path of peace and dialouge laid to us by great men like the late Dr. Garang and Omer Albashir.

With political reform and serious nation building we can transform this rich and fertile motherland into an african miracle.

We also understand that the way is long and the political ambitions or greed of some sudanese will be an obstacle to remove before reaching good governance.

Warlords like Khalil who refused twice to sit down and negotiate a just and lasting peace are not interested in this dream of a powerful, rich and just Sudan for all the sudanese. They are rather inetersted in the satisfaction of their own sick egos and bloody bank accounts.

That is why, they are a disgrace to this country and we must and will remove them.

Breaking News Dead bodys in khatoum Arab Jalaba

12 May 2008 – (Khartoum) – Seventeen Sudan Armed Forces soldiers are confirmed dead and more than 15 wounded in an attack by the Darfur anti-government group, the Justice and Equality Movement, on Saturday in Omdurman.

The number of JEM soldiers killed has not been confirmed. However, Sudan Television reports two commanders of the movement, convoy leader Mohammed Salih Jabra and the intelligence chief Mohammed Nouri-Din, were killed.

No specific information about the number of civilians killed or wounded is yet available.

Sudan Radio Service Khartoum bureau producer Nichola Mandil reports that on Sunday the Governor of Khartoum state, Dr. Abdelalim Al-Mutasi, announced that a curfew is being imposed in order to help security organs search for any JEM fighters who may still be in the capital. The curfew means people will be restricted to their homes from 5 p.m. until 10 a.m. the next day.
Mandil says despite the curfew, Khartoum itself is starting to return to normal, with only Omdurman still off-limits.

[Nichola Mandil]: “From eastern Sudan, Port Sudan and Kassala, people are coming to Khartoum by bus. From Gezira, Madeni and from El-Obeid the movement is fine. Only movement is restricted in Omdurman and also in some areas from Khartoum-North. But otherwise in different areas the markets are opened, but only to enter Omdurman is not possible at all and from Omdurman to enter Khartoum is not possible.”

Mandil quotes Governor Al-Mutasi asking citizens in the capital to respect the curfew and report what the governor called “suspicious movements.”

Meanwhile, Sudan Television is quoting sources within the Sudan Armed Forces as saying they will pay 250 million Sudanese pounds for any information that leads to the capture or death of JEM leader, Dr. Khalil Ibrahim.

On Sunday, Dr. Ibrahim told the BBC that he was in Khartoum and was headed to the Republican Palace in order to topple the Sudan government, but the Sudan Armed Forces says it has repulsed and chased the movement away from the capital. Early Monday morning there were some reports that Dr. Ibrahim has now been captured, but this could not be confirmed.

Some eyewitnesses in Khartoum told Rudan Radio Service on Sunday said that they saw many dead bodies lying on the streets in Omdurman and vehicles apparently belonging to JEM were destroyed and burning.

The eyewitnesses also said that they saw JEM soldiers moving all over Omdurman, especially around Suk Libya and even up to Suk Al-Shabi.

After returning from Saudi Arabia, President Omer Al-Bashir says that Sudan has cut diplomatic relations with Chad following the attack, blaming Chad for supporting and financing the anti-government group. Some alleged JEM soldiers who were captured appeared on Sudan Television saying they came from Chad.

However, Chad says it was not involved in the attacks. Speaking to Al-Jazeera television, the Chadian information minister called on the Sudanese government and all the Darfur movements to continue seeking a peaceful solution to the conflict.

But a peaceful solution seems further away than ever. Presidential Adviser Mustafa Osman Ismail says that peace talks between the national government and the Justice and Equality Movement would be suspended as a result of the attacks.

The attack on the capital had impact outside Darfur, as well. First Vice President of the Republic and President of the Government of Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, condemned the attacks and announced the SPLM would postpone its second national convention, which was supposed to start in Juba on Sunday.

The attack also garnered attention from outside the country. The United States government says it is very concerned by the outbreak of violence in Khartoum and is urging both sides to exercise restraint. And UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon also expressed concern about the fighting and called for an immediate ceasefire.

To the above folks ,if you think the Armed forces of sudan can be defeated , you most likly dreaming , this is a Gang war , that does not step up to the standard war where you can use heavy artillary and Air Force , so what you talking about when it comes to Army vs. Army , you will see how the Ancient and well equipped Army of Sudan will perform (3rd in weapon manufacturing in whole Africa after big countries like egypt and South Africa) , so believe me or not , this whole senario , is an intelligent move by Gos , to bring these ignorants and hit them hard on head , almost if not permenantly destroying the JEM (needless to mention the chasing and fighting that is waiting a head for them when they go back home ) if ever able to make it .
So thinking of weaknening of goverment is totally ridiculous , See US when they got hit hard it was also a terrorist or Gang-sort of war , but you can not fight them face -to-face.
this is what happening now .
Over-simplification of things that what drove him to suicide.
