In a press conference held in Juba at the conclusion of the SPLM convention, Salva Kiir Mayadrit reaffirmed the SPLM rejection of all the laws that are inconsistent with the constitution. He further underlined that his party seeks to change these laws and to make it conform to the constitution.

Kiir was speaking about some key laws on national security, media and the electoral law. The Sudanese security service exercises extended powers with regard to the detention of political opponents, prevention of political meeting and public liberties generally. SPLM and the opposition parties often underline the unconstitutional character of these laws.

“You cannot have transparent and fair elections unless you amend laws connecting to the political process,” said Atem Garang, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, last month.

Mayadrit further expressed SPLM willingness to ally itself with any party in Sudan, stressing in this regard, the absence of differences between his party and other political parties.

The SPLM chairman announced that the movement has become more willing than ever to implement the project of building the New Sudan based on the cultural and ethnic diversity, justice and equality.

He expressed satisfaction with the results of the Second National Convention of the party and its contribution to lay solid bases for sound partisan action based on SPLM charter and constitution. He also said that the resolutions of the convention would contribute to solving many national issues

Kiir praised the democratic spirit shown by members of convention and the efforts of all committees and those who worked to make the conference a success.

    Hi-Salva Kiir

Those laws like “A person who aimed a gun against SPLM/A must not rule SPLM or Country when SPLM vision did not die with Garang”.

NB: Riek Machar becoming the future president of either Sudan or Southern Sudan is like squeezing water out of stone.
    Listern and reform.
