Jonglei Speaker says Land Bill is for the community
By Philip Thon Aleu
August 5, 2008 (BOR TOWN) — No body will be chased away from the area included as part of Jonglei capital in the Land Bill, Speaker of Jonglei State Legislative Assembly told Sudan Tribune today.
Hon. Jodi Jonglei Boyoris clarified that the parliament is caring for the communities’ interest and won’t work against them. The Land Bill, he said, is a long term plan and shouldn’t create any fear of displacement.
“It is not for tomorrow or next tomorrow but for the next 100 years,” Hon. Boyoris elucidated.
Last Month, Bor Members of Parliament matched out in protest over the land bill that expands Bor Town to 8*15 Miles. The MPs argued that State owned land is not accurately distributed terming the Land Bill as “Land Annex.” Hon. Jodi Boyoris, who concurred with Bor MPs at some points, equally blames them for lack of explanation. “They did not come with convenience reasons,” he said.
The Speaker disclosed to Sudan Tribune in his office on Tuesday that the Parliament did not make any alteration in the Bill but passed it as it came from the Council of Ministers.
Answering questions concerning the alleged linear distribution of Land that favors government officials, the unsteady allotment and what Bor MPs called unclear distance measurement (in the Land Bill), the Speaker said State Minister for Land and Physical Infrastructures is a qualified Engineer to doubt his plans.
Bor Town dwellers remain in huts and temporary erected tukul fearing eviction any time as warned the State government. The controversial land bill raises another fright that residential plots allotment may take another trend.
However, Speaker Boyoris argued the community to remain calm citing that government in solitary them. “The land belongs to the community …. and we are from the community,” Hon. Boyoris noted.

People must understand that this Man called Kiir seem to be as he is turning SPLA into Salvas people Liberation movement, I personal point my fingers straight to him that his cruel policy toward South is one of the unexpected idea, because people are just shedding tears with silent roars not to be listen by any Awile/dinkas living organism around South. Kiir and his cabinet of dinkas are becomes a big headache to all of those who are highly concern in our region of South in particular Equatoria where dinaks are taking it as their breathing ground,in previous displacement of Bari by Mr Kiir in Jebel Kujur in silly policy that he was after development was absolutely wrong and none of us can believe in fact the evidence are now available in particular area, concrete buildings were been constructed for individual business not part of Goss in general, in Nimule none of Madi has any voice except dinkas who are loitering throughout like animals in free farm, but still all of those clans remain clam just because we are peace lover and we don’t need any wild behaviours,in fact we though that they are just our friends not in brotherly mind.
However in this cruel policy of current corrupters I would say keep going, but how far you go still there is one way to go which is same “cm by meters”, but personal I believe that people must ensure that the first step to take is land since we knew that everywhere the only issue for conflict/argument is border which is land in particular. Therefore as same are just giving warning instead of avenging we should be aware of making clear boundaries before the conclusion otherwise it is bad to say sorry since we knew that sorry is after danger. I hope those issues of land across South must be brought before the government. Government should be a government for reality through performance both in speech and action, but not just government for personal stomach and being prosperous.
shame on you

It is good to remind ourselves that the issue of land in Bor town is not a big problem. We have underpopulated land, the question is not who takes the biggest piece of land, but who will inhabit that piece of land and where are the resources to develop that massive land? We must work hard to get enough capital before complaining about displacement. We will all have land to inhabit although i don,t trust our leaders through the ways of dealing with public properties however, the land is too big for them to swallow.
For you Logic, I don,t understand you, to be honest you are totally insane. You just post nonsense to the web inorder to creat hadred between Equatorians and Dinkas unfortunately a sensible Equatorian and Dinka won’t understand your childish nonsense. Please there is no relavance of your letter to the land issue in Jonglei otherwise i wander whether you understand this foreign (English). Come back to normal otherwise your days to live are numbered and the symtoms of your death the way you talk.
Cheers bro. Die Hard southerner

Good mr.Speaker.
We better liberats Sudan in all ways, means and manner her up for our own betterment. Jonglei as a cornerstone of liberation must show good examples to the Sudanese, particularly southerners that she liberats. This is one of those examples I was talking of. I do know that Jonglei is a land and a state of people who do understand one another in a respectful way. That why Jonglei is always a shining star a cross Sudan!.
I argued that all of us, the Jonglei citizens should keeps that hearts till Jesus come!, and by doing so we shall have liberats Sudan as a country and Sudanese people both mentaly and…!!
I know very well that people like big farmous logic boy or big farmous illogic boy are becoming more jealousy then ever about the step we are taking. Take it easy boy!. We are going down the development streets and nothing on this earth shall stops us form doing that!.Hats Dinkas, love Dinkas, still you will takes them nowher!!!.
Be bless.

The Jonglei state speaker should stop fooling the community by trying to hide the content of the land bill. The community has a right to stand against any state government action that may rip-off their land. From the speaker explanation it seem that the planning of Bor town must be very ambitous and unattenable. It mean that Bor town is to be greater than many cities in countrie like australia whose radius are less than 15 mile or 30 km, for example the City of Adelaide,Canbera and Brisbane. Such plan do lead to city sporal which is a major problem to many cities in the developed countries. But the community should note one thing, this plan is simply being done in order to graft and allocate the community land to some corrupt state government officials like they have done in the Bor Town, Some individual who happen to be currently privilege in terms of government positions would like to take every opportunity to acquire material as much as they could in expense of the poor population.Community should stand up against such bill before they come into laws.

My advice to everyone in this web. Please, please never should anyone mention the enemy of the South, Traitor of our blank Africa people among the hero list. Dr. Riak is the enemy one number if you do not know how many life did he caused through his selfish fulfilment of selling the South to Khartoum you better distance yourself from naming him but you are right to mention the rests but not Dr. Riak and Dr. Lam. We suffered a greatly during the struggle because of them after their Nasir faction and Joined Khartoum and more so committed War crime and genocide in Bor just because Dr. John Garang is from Dinka. They both came to the movement as a result of CPA. Riak is behind the detention of Gen. Obote Mamur because he is being complicated in Obote case. I reminded you that Late C-IN-C DR John Garang declared publically that South Sudan will never forget nor should the forgive you, the will know the you are the only one who stable their movement at the back and that is in the mind of everyone who witness the atrocities committed by this man in Bor more than what ARABS of Khartoum does to innocent people in Bor.
