UN asks Nepali peacekeepers for Sudan

KATHMANDU, Nepal, Mar 08, 2004 (nepalnews) — The United Nations (UN) has recently requested Nepal to deploy its security personnel to Sudan as part of UN’s peace keeping force, published reports said Monday.

According to reports, UN has stated the need of some 800 to 1200 Nepalis security personnel for the purpose.

Following the UN’s proposal, the Royal Nepal Army has begun necessary training to its recruits, reports said.
