Robber shoots Tanzanian man in Rumbek

By Manyang Mayom

October 15, 2008 (RUMBEK) — A Tanzanian man was shot and critically
wounded on Tuesday night at his garage residence, according to an
official of Lakes State in the Southern Sudan.

An unknown gunman appeared at night at the residence of the man, whose
first name is Kwamba, asking for money. Kwamba answered that he had no
money, at which point the man opened fire before running away, the
official told Sudan Tribune.

Kwamba, a well-known mechanic in Rumbek, has served the citizens of
Rumbek repairing cars, land cruisers and trucks belonging to
businessmen in Lakes state.

The shooting represents the second attack on foreigners within a week;
a Kenyan man was gunned down near a bar in the residential area of
Canal hotel on Oct. 9.

The incident initiated a difficult medical saga.

The robber escaped after seriously wounding the man in his stomach. The bullet reportedly passed through the man, exiting through his back.

Kwamba was rushed to the God Mercy Clinic in Rumbek after his relatives discovered his wounds.

Wednesday morning, relatives of Kwamba requested from Lakes State hospital authorities a referral paper so that Kwamba could be taken to Kenya for further treatment, but state officials strongly rejected the request, claiming that the patient had not even been brought to their hospital for treatment.

Speaking over the phone to Tribune, Dr. Chan Deng Malual said that Kwamba had still not reached the hospital, though the doctor had been
informed of the man’s wounds.

“We are waiting for him, but he has not appeared so we cannot allow a paper of referral for a patient that we have not examined.” He added, “We must first examine the patient before we can decide whether or not to grant a referral for medications.”

He said it was against medical procedure law to grant a referral without first completing an examination.

Kwamba’s relatives managed to take their son from Rumbek to Kenya for treatment, although serious internal bleeding was still ongoing.

    Dear Mr. Famuos Big-logic Boy,
sometimes your comments tell your real logicality but some times it’s does not. What I simply want to say is this, the current situation in Lakes state can not be counted on citizens of the area alone. There are two things you shoud have think before posting to the world to read.

    1. What is government of the state doing since before disarmiment and all these crises of robbery, killing inocent victims are going on? Example, killing of late Samuel Gachau what did the local authority had done to prevent further crimes against foreigners. Is there an outhority in the area really?

    2. In every town/city the robbers, murderess and all sought of evil doers from different races, tribes, clans and so on like to dwell there. But the authority governing the area does not give them a chance. Why this state out of ten states???????????!!!!!!!!!!!

However, Rumbek should not be like this at the time of CPA which every Southerner is enjoying.
Look, during warring times started from 1955-1972 and 1983-2005 Lakes state has been standing firm with movements and one of the strongest supporter.Lakes state communities are very good and successful in solving problems between others and themselves but this thing,is a big question mark. Why do we leave the hole on the roof that everyone is seeing in the daylight and starting to blame citizents???!!! “You can not fix the hole on the roof during the night time but the day light”,if you wait till darkness come you are making an other hole not fixing.

So brother let wait for the the out come of the investigation and then we can finger point from there.
    Thank you for understanding.

    Pollon.
