South Sudan’s SSDF opens its office in W. Equatoria

January 30, 2009 (YAMBIO) — South Sudan Democratic Forum (SSDF) has today opened officially its office in Yambio. The office aims to spread the objectives of the party in Western Equatoria State.

The SSDF chairperson in WES is Hon Mary Roman Yaya was designated by the party delegates. The office is located behind Anisa lodge, just after Yabongo Secondary school.

The opening ceremony was attended by some 200 people.

The southern Sudan ruling party, the SPLM, was represented by the state Deputy Secretary of Planning, Monoko Leone. The chairperson of SPLM in the state the Governor Jemma Nunu Kumba could not attend the meeting in person.

Monoko congratulated the SSDF party for opening its new office in WES. He stated that, “it is big challenge to the other parties that have not yet open their offices and the new policy is NO office NO representative will be in the parliament.”

He however urged that, “WES citizens who are about to make a mistake in the upcoming referendum to vote for the Unity of one Country (Sudan)”. “We need not to make that mistake; families can solve their problem among themselves.” Monoko warned.

Hon. Mary Romano Yata announced that, “SSDF objective is clear that is for the separation of the Sudan. SSDF plans to tackle good activities for youths, women and common men on the streets to explain the CPA and to enable them to make a right decision by separating from the north.”

Yata also asserted that the SSDF would fight tribalism and encourage the unity of southern Sudanese. She further said that her party is the second big party in the semi-autonomous region.
