Sudan says France asked that Bashir not run for elections

April 28, 2009 (KHARTOUM) – A Sudanese official who returned from a trip to France said that officials there made some proposals to break the deadlock over the row with the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Nafie1.jpgThe Sudanese presidential assistant Nafi Ali Nafi speaking at Khartoum University said that Paris proposed a “national interim government” headed by president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir who faces an ICC arrest warrant over alleged war crimes comitted in Darfur.

However Bashir would have to later withdraw candidacy in the 2010 presidential elections.

In return France would support an Article 16 resolution to suspend the ICC arrest warrant against Bashir.

Nafi along with other officials met with French and British officials for talks on Darfur crisis, ICC warrant and North-South Peace agreement.

Upon return Nafi said that the visit was successful but French officials that Sudan refused to back down on its positions particularly with regard to humanitarian groups expelled from Darfur last month and cooperation with the ICC.

The Sudanese official reiterated his country’s position on the ICC saying that internal voices calling for cooperation with it “should respect Sudanese judiciary”.

He also accused Darfur Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) of being an arm of Popular Congress Party (PCP) led by opposition leader Hassan Al-Turabi. Nafi said that the proposals put forward by JEM “is the manifesto of the (PCP)”.

Furthermore Nafi accused Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) led by Abdel-Wahid Al-Nur of adopting the political agenda of the SPLM.

He issued warning to those who want regime change through foreign powers saying that they are “committing treason”.

Am awful sorry for supporting Bahir!!

The reason why am supporting Bashir is simply for the below proverb.

“Arabs can give you dry tea with sugar while he is taking his milk tea in a dark cup, while Dinkas will give you dry tea without sugar and he will be taking his milk tea in a transparent glass” therefore, where do you go??

Without Dinkas, yes let Bashir not stand for elections due it wise to deal with an old devil than unknown one.

France has really made the good movement at this stage,in the world of good goverances and justice ,those who re suspected for any crime can not be allowed to runs for public office untill confirmed not guilty.

Therefore ,this is the time Mr president to wash his hands before ,things become worsen , these re signs of international pressure and shouldn’t be disregarded nor be made as pride of one man shows.
