UDF women lash out at official corruption in South Sudan

By Isaac Vuni

May 22, 2009 (JUBA) — The women of the United Democratic Front (UDF), the second-largest party in the south, challenged the Government of Southern Sudan for encouraging corruption in all institutions.

Addressing women at a political rally at Munuki Payam, block B, in the capital city of Southern Sudan under the theme, “How to call Women to participate in political Work,” Mrs. Mirella Augustino said women are best fit to lead downtrodden people of the south for total independence since male liberators indulged in heavy corruption including transferring money abroad. But she did not mention any names.

UDF participants criticized the ruling party of the South, saying that inadequate development is caused by these very liberators, who now are looting people’s resources for buying private houses in Khartoum, Kampala, Nairobi, America, America and elsewhere.

Mrs. Angelina Idyongo accused constitutional post-holders of taking their children either to east Africa or Europe for study while poor people’s children are left to suffer in unequipped schools whose teachers are not even paid regularly.

She also suggested that returnees’ youth, women and children have brought along with them the culture they adopted while in exile not suitable to southern Sudanese society. She elaborated that the introduction of “nigger” behaviours (coming from the derisive word used for black Americans whose ancestors had been slaves in the USA) by children of the senior constitutional post-holders who have returned from study in Egypt are now terrorizing and even beating their parents in south Sudan.

She urges women to be responsible by adopting corrective measures for their children, for instance warning those who report very late at home when other members are already asleep. Such concerns stem from very poor security in and around Juba.

Women also took issue with the government of the semi-autonomous region for employing the very security officers who betrayed or actively participated in assassination of over 300 educated sons of southerners during the Juba incident of July 7, 1992, who are now posing as the best supporters of SPLM/A in sensitive positions of power.

UDF women lash out at official corruption in South Sudan
I really agreed with the Southern Sudanese women who have raised out their voice on corruption being carried out by Salva Kiir Miyardit and his Deputy Feign Dr Riak Machar Teny plus others Five General commanders who are malingering around the corner seeking for some dollars to invested into their “bigbelly” and pretended themselves that they are ready to makes an Election with Khartoum Government. My advise to the Southern Sudanese Women is that, corruption in Southern Sudan wasn’t the first time to be heard, but it was already been steered by Salva Kiir Miyardit and Feign Dr Riak Machar Teny. These two people namely Riak Machar Teny and Salva Kiir Miyardit are really capsizing down the vision of the whole Southern Sudan and at the same time, they are just only investing their own needs for the seek of their future, but not the future of the Southern Sudanese people.

I do really have doubt about Salva Kiir Miyardit because Salva Kiir Miyardit himself was in the Movement since 1983 until this time. So, therefore, Salva Kiir Miyardit should have to learn how to deal and know what affects the Social living of the Southern Sudanese’s Civilian as a whole. Also, Salva Kiir Miyardit, should not engaged himself with non- activities such as tribal-conflicts, insecurity protocols and reshuffling of the Ministers which is one of the thing that I hate more and more. First of all, why Salva Kiir Miyardit and the other SPLM/SPLA associates or commanders such as Dr John Garang, Kerubino Kuanyin Bol, Arok Thon Arok, Martin Majier Gai, William Nyuon Bany, Gen Deng Bior Ajang, Kawach Miakuei, Pagan Aguek and Joseph Uduo as well as Francis Ngor Ngor and Kuol Minyang Juuk waged the war against the Khartoum Government instead of tribal conflict? This is because that tribal conflict doesn’t matter because what cause tribal conflict itself is the lack of the political dialogue from the SPLM/SPLA to its Southern Sudan Civilians. SPLM/SPLA need to stratify its political wings very strongly to the Southern Sudanese Civilians by ensuring that the objectives of the SPLM/SPLA are fully understood by the Southern Sudanese Citizens. In the other veins, the SPLM/SPLA objectives must have to be obeyed by the President himself who is Salva Kiir Miyardit and Feign Dr Riak Machar Teny before the reach to the Southern Sudanese Civilians. In fact, I can’t blamed the citizens of the Southern Sudan because if Salva Kiir and Riak Machar Teny don’t know what they are doing, then how will people in Southern Sudan understand the full role of the SPLM/SPLA in Southern Sudan?

Second, why Southern Sudanese people took up Arms and fought consectively for 22 years? Were they fight in order to practice corruption or were they fight in order to free the Southern Sudanese people from being underminded by the Government of Khartoum? Why Salva Kiir Miyardit behave like he doesn’t know the role of the SPLM/SPLA and he was amongst those of the Seven General commanders who formed the SPLM/SPLA in 1983?. This time is not the time for our grandmothers and grandfathers to raise their choas on corruption. It is the time for our grandpeople in Southern Sudan to raise thanks to the SPLM/SPLA, but how should they raised thank to the SPLM/SPLA and Salva Kiir Miyardit and his Deputy Riak Machar Teny failed to mind about the Southern Sudanese Civilians? In fact, our mothers who raised their voices on corruption being practiced by the Southern Sudanese official leaders are definitely right on this corruption because most of them have their children in the SPLA and the SPLM/SPLA use these children in order to fight Arabs and then they sit down and pocketed some dollars. I know that Salva Kiir Miyardit is not going to win an Election because he is very feeble indeed to carried his political strategic very positively. It is a very big sordid on Salva Kiir and Riak Machar Teny in order to practice corruption. Shame on them!!!. There is no needs for women to complain like that since some of their children lose their life or killed in war between the SPLA and Khartoum Government. Some children belong to these women were killed by Riak Machar Teny and now he is become a Vice President of the Goverment of Southern Sudan. There is no different between a rebel and someone who was in the Movement from the very beginning. All of them acted the same.

Third, what is 25% of the Women sharing means to Salva Kiir Miyardit and Riak Machar Teny? It means that 25% of the Women sharing means budget and if they have budget in the Government of Southern Sudan, then they women also have positions to hold in the Government of Southern Sudan. So, why Salva Kiir Miyardit and Riak Machar Teny mistreated and prevaricated women right in Southern Sudan? Do Salva Kiir Miyardit and Riak Machar Teny regarded themselves that they are they only two important people in Southern Sudan? If they think so, then what about the women in Southern Sudan who have their children in the SPLA? I do really challenged Salva Kiir Miyardit and Riak Machar Teny’s leadership. You can not become a leader if you don’t stand for the right of your people. Both Salva Kiir Miyardit and Riak Machar Teny are practicing a wrong leadership!. What kind of leadership is that if Salva Kiir Miyardit lost his seat in Khartoum Parliament and tried to do things that are not appropriate to the people of Southern Sudan? “Can somebody believed that one kilogram of feathers is the same as one kilogram of Salt”?

It is very appreciative to the UDF women who high lighted the ever existing interest and their most likely method of crucky way which is coouption to all Government officials and yet south sudan still lacking self founds as well as they infact send their sons to study out of the country leaving poorest, dispite that south sudan got this this little chances through the effort of every one.
“caution” the more you send your sons with alot of moni the more they do irrelevents affairs to the studies, because we the minor are very slow and sure about we are doing. And they willn,t perform better than those who sell their cattle and cultivate in order to get school fees. By 1-1
