Doctors network says RSF killed 7 civilians in North Kordofan attack
March 6, 2026 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudan Doctors Network on Friday accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of killing seven civilians during an attack launched yesterday on the Um Kraidem area, west of Bara in North Kordofan State.
According to a statement issued by the Sudan Doctors Network, a civil entity monitoring violations in conflict zones, the deceased in Um Kraidem include two women and a child.
The statement confirmed that the Um Kraidem area was subjected to a large-scale attack during which large parts of the area were burned, and the market was completely looted. The only health centre was also set on fire, and the pharmacy was plundered, leaving behind widespread destruction that has increased the suffering of citizens during the month of Ramadan.
Elements belonging to the Rapid Support Forces had broadcast video clips of their attack on the rural area, showing houses in the town on fire, following the army’s announcement that it had regained control of Bara, the second-largest city in North Kordofan State.
The Sudan Doctors Network considered the assault on residential areas where there is no military presence, as happened in Um Kraidem, a clear and deliberate targeting of civilians by the RSF to intimidate them and forcibly displace them from their areas.
The network added that the burning and looting of health facilities represents a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, which criminalizes the targeting of medical facilities and ensures their protection during times of conflict.
The network called on the international community, United Nations organizations, and human rights groups to move urgently to stop these repeated violations against civilians. It urged action to protect the population and health facilities in conflict zones and to hold the RSF leaders responsible for these crimes accountable to ensure they do not escape punishment.
According to local sources, the Rapid Support Forces burned the Um Kraidem area after violent clashes with local citizens who rejected the presence of the forces that fled from Bara after the army took control of it.
