Fifty students awarded scholarships to Juba Secondary School
June 17, 2009 (JUBA) – Fifty young scholars, including 37 girls, were awarded scholarships to Juba Day Secondary School through a grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
After their education at the school, the boys and girls may enter a teacher-training institute.
The scholarships were awarded through USAID’s Gender Equity through Education program. Since 2007, the US agency has awarded 3,000 scholarships in 40 schools to students in eight states of south Sudan, as well as in Abyei and Southern Kordofan.
The scholarships were celebrated at a ceremony today presided over by USAID Acting Administrator for Africa Earl Gast and Minister of Education Job Dhouruai Malou.
Today the school received from the same agency a grant of 6,000 Sudanese pounds (US$2,600).

Thank for supporting South Sudan by taking young people to shool, education is the only way to support young generation now in Sudan, as $$$$$ is a problem to our leaders, my advise to you, United States Agency for Internationl development is not to give cash to our Government as a support to students or education programs, they will use that for their own purposes intate of taking young people to school. Thank once more for that support.
I ‘ll not going to say much at now though as this issue is more important to me.
