N. Bahr el-Ghazal seeks financial assistance for development projects

By Ngor Arol Garang

August 11, 2009 (KADUGLI) — The acting governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State government, Brigadier General Athian Teng Angok, today said his government seeks financial assistances to support developmental projects initiated in the area.

There are lots of projects initiated and planed to be implemented in the state but lack of money delay their implementation, he said. However, he added the state realized many of these projects and work hard to achieve the remaining ones.

The Northern Bahr el Ghazal State achieved several projects to construct the infrastructure needed for the local development, such roads and bridges connecting rural town of Aweil East, North and West counties.

Town planning has been completed as the town is surveyed and plots distributed to residents. Electrification of the town has started. Other parts of the town are electrified and powered. There is now light in most parts of the town, he stressed.

Athian who was speaking from Aweil town continued to say that security situation in the state continued to be stable. “Aweil has never recorded any security threats after we conducted peace conference with Messeriya in November last year. Both Dinka Malual and Messeriya remains committed to their resolutions and are being implemented.”

“We have never received any complaint from our neighbors. People are moving freely into further south and north through Marem road,” he further stressed.

Athian whose government has been recently accused of nepotism in the recruitment of employees denied the existence of such practices saying they staffed people with credible documents.

“There is no such thing like employing people we know without asking them to produce documents which qualify them to hold position for which they applied.”

“We have never received such complaint but indeed there are unconfirmed rumors flying in the media. These are allegations without proofs,” he further said.

Ealier, Athian appreciated construction activities of Ayat roads and bridges Construction Company that is working well to include other counties like Aweil South this year. It is part of the contract.

    N. Bahr el-Ghazal seeks financial assistance for development projects
Dear readers I would to inform you that about the Acting Governor of Northern Bahr El Ghazal as he put forward that his Government was accusing of nepotism is not accusation but it is true even Teng himself has gone beyond human capacity of which he was forced UMCOR to recruit the people of his area as this organisation is operated in the their county where he came from which put this organisation in critical condition now because the people who were appointed by him and Commissioner are not perform their duties which assigned to them by organisation. However, organisation is different department of which the organisation can advertise the posts and sellect the qualify people rather than be appointed by Teng and Commisioner of Aweil South which doesnot like by any INGOs operating in the state and in second to that he force Eyat company to construct the bridge he mentioned before that it is one of the contracted place but it was for his interest but not public interest because he wanted the road to pass nearby his home which is totally dictator. Hence I have seen that asking for financial assistance where 90% will go to personnel Account and leave the public of Aweil suffer like hell could he mind to ask assistance for himself but not in seek of Northern Bahr El Ghazal because in May he ban some of items not to be sold in Aweil market such as food, fuel etc which led to serious starvation in the State rather than controlling the price since he had more shops and fuel station.
