Drone strike kills at least seven at South Kordofan fuel station
November 3, 2026 (EL ABBASIYA, South Kordofan) – At least seven people were killed and 36 injured on Tuesday when a suspected Rapid Support Forces (RSF) drone struck a fuel station in Sudan’s South Kordofan state.
The strike hit as many civilian vehicles queued to refuel amid a severe regional shortage, local sources told Sudan Tribune.
Several of the injured are in critical condition.
The incident reflects an increasing trend of attacks on energy infrastructure within army-controlled areas.
The Sudanese government has recently accused Ethiopia of supporting strikes on power grids across nine states, which have destroyed at least 17 power stations and caused widespread blackouts.
Tuesday’s strike in El Abbasiya coincides with increased drone operations by the RSF and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) in eastern South Kordofan.
In recent weeks, drones have targeted three artisanal mining sites in the El Liri locality, causing civilian casualties and destroying gold processing facilities.
