180 Jordanian police officers arrive to North Darfur
August 26, 2009 (KHARTOUM) — The hybrid peacekeeping mission in Darfur (UNAMID) in El-Fasher received today the second batch of Jordanian Police Formed Unit after the arrival of 46 police personnel last week.
Today’s 180 police officers will be deployed in Kabkabiya, North Darfur.
Jordan will deploy two units of police made up of 140 personnel each and will be based in El-Fasher and Kabkabiya in North Darfur.
Currently, UNAMID has a total of eight FPUs on the ground out of the 19 authorized by the United Nations Security Council resolution 1769; these include (3) from Bangladesh, (1) from Indonesia, (1) from Nepal, (2) from Nigeria and (2) from Jordan.
The Mission is also expecting the arrival of the Senegalese FPU this week.
