Northern Bahr el Ghazal runs short of voter registration materials

By Ngor Arol Garang

November 17, 2009 (MELUT) — Southern State of Northern Bahr el Ghazal today said run short of voter registration materials in all five counties.

Speaking from Aweil town, Mr. Peter Lual Lual Ayok, member of Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly participating in the community voter registration enlightenment, said voter registration teams from his constituency have been out of centers since Saturday 14 due to short of voter registration materials.

“People have been coming and returning to their villages unregistered because there are no forms for registration,” he said asking national election commission head office in Khartoum to immediately consider sending additional forms.

Commenting on the voter turnout in the area, Ayok said, registration centers in his constituency were always full because he with local authorities arrange free transport for elderly people who do not walk long distance.

“I intentionally drove home my private vehicle from Juba so that it can be used during registration process like now;” he said adding that he left Juba assembly cognizant of logistics problems facing election commission office in the state.

“It is this vehicle among others that we used to freely transport people living in the extreme and far north areas of both Mangok and Yargot Payams,” he adds.

The Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, General Paul Malong Awan Anei, last week said had issued an order giving members of his cabinet including civil servant as well as members of the state legislative Assembly 7 days time off to abet voter registration in their constituencies and villages.

The honorable Member of Parliament who said disappointed by short supply of materials amid registration process also demanded additional days to compensate days spent without registration by national election board office.

We need additional days because, by the time these forms are brought, people will have returned to their villages and this mean fresh enlightenment for them to come back for registration, he explained.

Ayok is one of the Northern Bahr el Ghazal Representatives at Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly in Juba currently at home participating in the voter registration process.

Southern Sudan President, Gen. Salva Kiir Mayadrit, soon after the start of voter registration process on Sunday 1, gave official holidays for constitutional post holders to go to their respected constituencies to help in the voter registration enlightenment.

    Samuel Kur.

There is no different between you and NIF. If your are Southerner residing in Khartoum or Cario whose slavery enter to your blood like your Uncle Abel Alier, Bona Malual, Joseph Lagu, Lem Akol, Riek Gai, Ajoou Deng, Wol, Wol, Moses Machar and many more. If you were really a human being you would have tired of them rather than Kakuma tibalism boys who seek refugee in the camp and know the cause of the war.

I was not in kakuma nor Uganda but these boys are more educated than you and your uncle Basher who speak broken English like the way you have written this article.

They behave like animals because they do not wanted be treated like second class citizens in their own land as said by Kiir.

I would like to thanks people of Nothern BG for their committment in their registration. They should be supply with the registration materials as they demanded.
All the ten states must take example from NBG and registered 100% so that we proved our doubt to NCP that our population is higher than the 1956 census.

To mr Samuel Kur, I could not understand your intention regarding to the response of this article.
You might have dream to through irresponisble thought to people while you are even the disease yourself.
The only and the most people who practice the tribalism on this web are not from kakaoma as you said, but they are those who hate SPLM. Southern Sudan is full of Nyagatins who can not tell the truth because they have been blindfools by some blind leaders with no visions.
I have been monitoring your comments and yours ressemble those of Nyagatins who pretend when their is food to eat but desperse when there is scarcity of food.
    Thanks

Am deeply regret by the way things are run in Sudan and mostly in Southern Sudan. Sudanese are so optimistic for the future of their country but some senseless politicians are truly misleading the public. I do greatly acknowledged the sacrifice made by our vetrans, to bring the CPA. I do remember those who gave their lives for caused of freedom.
Here is a peace in your midst, what is next?

Does Kiir and his leadership exactly know what we were fighting for? were we fighting for secession, injustice, inequality, secular sudan or nepotism?

I understand that people of southern sudan have fade up for unprecedented leadership of al bashir, but will Bashir’s determine the future of the next generation?
Its fair for people of Sudan vote in 2011 for the candidate that will up grade the standard of living by provding infrustractures and cementing relationship among the citizens.

There had been wars everywhere around the world but it does means people separated.

Am sick with Kiir’s leadership, a leadership that could not foresee the future, the world is emerging toward globalization but people of sudan are divided in clan level.

What will Kiir’s legacy be after his life on this earth? how will wanted to be remembered?

Since the CPA, he hasn’t done any tingible thing that could be seen in the south while billions of dollars are pouring into the south in daily basis.

Living standard and quality of live in the south is ourageous especially in the local level.

Insecurity is threatening whole the south and he is doing nothing about it. He has been blaming his senseless failure to khartoum. Southern sudan is under his jursidiction, why wouldnt do anything to quel the situation.

He is inciting the separation and for the people of southern sudan to vote for separation so that they can be treated like second class citizens in their own country. Yet, he is treating the people of southen sudan horribly but he cant anticipate.

Lack of knowledge will demolished the great nation of sudan with awesome people in it.

Every human life is the same, i dont see a reason he got himself guards and he cant do that to his people?

There is shorten of ballots for registration, was he really prepared for the election? I dont think so, Kiir’s wanted to fill his guts and he cant think for the future of sudan in 700 years to come.

SPLM/A was a great movement and great motives but those motives has become senseless and the SPLM/A reputation is dimishing day by day because of the way things are run.

Reshuffling is what he place his gut into, but since he is not doing well, who is going to kick him out? There is no election since he took the post.

Sudan will never conform as long as Kiir is leading the south.
I wish he could start building the foundation in the south, by educating local citizens about the goals of CPA,

How they will vote in 2011, what the GOSS can and cant do?

Bashir and Kiir are birds of the same features either in ideological and moral beliefs. They should all go to their huts and let the new leadership emerged.

United sudan is what is basically expected not preaching hatred. The berlin wall has clasped, why not breaking those barriers among Sudanese and build the ideals for new sudan?

Sudanese should fairly vote for the person of their choice, not manipulating the minds of civilians.

If not SPLM/A could change her attitudes toward the future of southerners and sudan, then southerners should support the party that would protect their destiny. Kiir’s should refrain from corruption and nepotism.

His last speech in the church protrayed his inability to leads and unite his clan, leave alone the people of southern sudan and sudan.

He was about to defect in 2004 simply for greeds and hanger for leadership with no significance skills. I hate the man, esp his short sighted mimic.

the same thing happens to us repeatedly working materials to be limited in census, election and even upto forth comming south referendum.NEC must hurry up unless NBG is given extra days.
    thanks,
