Upper Nile deputy governor survives an ambush

December 11,2009 (KHARTOUM) — Brigadier General,Dok Jok Dok, the SPLM appointed deputy governor and minister of local government to the state of Upper Nile State, survived an ambush by armed criminals while visiting the newly created county of Akoka in the region.
Speaking from Malakal after his return from an official visit to Melut and Akoka, he said armed men suddenly got out of the road side and started to shoot indiscriminately.
However, he said that none of his entourage was hurt.
The deputy governor, who comes from Renk County after visiting Melut and the recently created county of Akoka, was in the area to witness taking and handing over of administrative
Reacting to the incident Thon Juac, Melut county commissioner who was part of deputy governor entourage, angrily said this must have been an organized attack by armed militia whose presence is still being felt in the county. “This groups usually comes from the western part of the Nile,” he stressed.
There are several of them (in reference to militia group) carrying arms in the area, they neither belong to the Joint Integrated Units nor to SPLA units in the area, he said adding these elements appears once in a while.
In an official appointment bearing presidential decree made by the president of the government of Southern Sudan General, Ayong Ajang was named Commissioner of Akoka County.
Earlier, the Deputy Governor who holds two other additional positions, one as minister of local government and the other as SPLM chairman in the State, denied having been detained by any SPLA soldiers on his way from Melut to Akoka.
This was a response to allegation that he was detained by SPLA. “I was a SPLA senior officer prior to my appointment as deputy governor, all the commanding officers and soldiers are those I have commanded or shared areas of responsibilities during war,” he said.
“In the army they were my comrades and still are my comrades because I have not been retired though I am serving in the civil administration,” he added.
None of them can abet detaining him or anybody linked to his entourage without justified reason, he said adding that not only because of his past relationship but none of them can detain anybody without security reasons with advice from county authorities.

Killing our leaders is nothing not sign of bringing big lose. Now supporters SPLA don’t regret this criminal culture of SPLA, this corrupt party has fail to improve the security. Where is Peter Getwech the leader of DDR. I urge him to carry a very serious action toword those criminals.

Upper Nile call for reshuffle unfortunately couldn’t implement till the governor was remove and the corrupted people remain. Creating counties which could not deserve the estimated number of county is a corruption. Kindly advising civilian not to kill their leaders let them wait for election we will vote them out.
