The Jonglei State Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Electoral
College nominates for all the 15 seats for national federal) assembly,
28 for south Sudan and 48 for state assemblies. The list includes

that order. Among the five interested comrades, the SPLM will nominate
one to face other political party/parties’ aspirant(s) in April

Speaking to reporters in Bor town today, the chairperson of State SPLM
Electoral College, Gatkuoth Tiop Bol, says the four-day party’s
selection process was fair and transparent. Mr. Tiop calls upon
members selected against to remain partisan. He says

”All the applicants are committed and strong SPLM members but we have
only 91 seats from Jonglei state.”

The team supervisor Norah Zangabeyo earlier says that “they are
candidates who made it successfully through the SPLM selection
criteria for 2010 elections and we [SPLM] calls on people of Jonglei
state to rally behind them.”

The nomination exercise was limited to 25-member State SPLM Electoral

228 applications were collected from SPLM members for various
positions. The competition within the SPLM was steep and this
nomination, to many Bor town residents, has ended campaigns leading to
April polls quite early. The opposition parties are silent that SPLM
assumes winning all parliamentary seats.

The first democratic post-war elections, in accordance to
Comprehensive Peace Agreement that end 21 years of war in Sudan, are
the first in the South. The former rebel, SPLM, that rules the
semi-autonomous south, is still popular and dominant that declared
nominees assume responsibilities immediately. However, SPLM candidates
will face opposition contenders in April 2010 before preparing the
south for referendum in January 2011.

James James is missing in the list, I wonder if any murle has been slected to participate. Time to balance the employement in the government ie all tribles must be given chance and woman must compete with man equally. Only illiterate who are father of corruption has the legal obligation to leave the top positions and work as local or traditional leaders..

    New Year Message

Time for tribalism has gone, 2010 is not a time to generalise tribe or community instead of one person. It is time to focus on the real issue far from tribal criticism, political party criticism, leaders criticism, and very far from abuses or insults. We should also debate far from abuses of any single commenter on ST forum, to myself I want to be a man of tolerance, peace, responsbility, respect, forgiveness, love, unity and courage . It is time to get serious and work for the betterment of my nation South Sudan (New name).

For now lets start new year with fresh mind and positive ideas that will improvement the managment of South Sudan, childish comments must be ignored. Some individual comment aggressively when they are defeated in debate, this spirit must be abandon. We are here to play a game ie you get defeated or you defeat others defends on the article and the extend of your debate, but don’t insult people. This is my new year message to ST viewers, contributors, pseuds, readers and editor.

I do not support this process at all. This is a hand pick process, it does not reflect democratic process whereby contenders are chosen by a direct vote by public. The same corrupted people are nominated again to lead us. Young people need to wake up and challenge these old SPLM members because they are not doing us any good.

This is good ,now every one needs to get to work to be elected as the legitimate representatives for the community, they have to work hard for development of the community and not for their own selfish interests.

    Akobo oyeee…,

Emelda Modi Tombe (Akobo). I appreciate the spirit of real democracy and the fair heart of Nuer by giving a seat to their Equatorian woman. It is very good idea to make her feel that she belongs to where she is married to. Selecting Emelda Modi Tombe over other Nuer women for the post shows that the people of Akobo are not greedy.

However, Jonglei state should not make the mistake to elect Kuol Manyang Juuk. Electing Kuol Manyang for the next five years is like voting for 5 more years of tribal wars and lack of development in the state of Jonglei.

I believe that unless the SPLM Political Bureau nominates some body else than Kuol Manyang, the NCP strong contest for governorship in Jonglei, Dr. Riek Gai Kok, will win the position in the elections.

    Dear Jonglei state communities!

Murle, Anuak, Nuer if you want Kuol Manyang to become again as a governor of Jonglei, why not president Bashir to continue as apresident of Republic of Sudan,
My advise to you all, is better to bring somebody rather Kuol Manyang to rule Jonglei state untill retire since is not permanent position, let vote for some body else.

But I think the aspirants did not use wrong means to get to where they are now-bribing people.Sincerity makes one confident in all the undertakings(This goes to the aspirants) and to be able to face the aspirants from the North you should believe your heart.

It is something natuaral that no act done with out error,I have seen some people in the constituencies lists of nominee,I have obsrved it cleverly and I have seen some corruption there, there are some men nominated as well as their wives do so,good example is Kouny War jock and Steven Omot ogut with their wives is that not corruption? Two sister together is it not corruption? Nyadak pual along with her sister.

Mr.Gai Riam who resigned from Forum on Dec 16 2009 has been nominated in SPLM party list leaving aside the true Members of SPLM who have great dedication for the standing and existence of the party. We need him to be screen out,for the constitutions said it so,new comer have the period of observation and it was articulated to be solid two years.

Go a head Poliberu to eliminate Forum Gai Riam whose main purpose to leave his party is take SPLM opportunity, but we say to him that go away, you are not a member SPLM original rather forgery.

Wish you all the peacefull election.

    AND thanks
