Sudan hails relations with Arab countries

KHARTOUM, April 24, 2004 (SUNA) — Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Mustafa Uthman Isma’il, described Sudan’s relations with the Arab countries as in its best situations and progressing, commending the Arab support to the issues of Sudan.

In this regard, the minister pointed out that the joint Sudanese-Bahraini ministerial committee would be held in Manamma Sunday 25 April, while the Sudanese-Kuwaiti ministerial committee will be held on 27-28 April.

Dr Isma’il explained in a statement to the press that the year 2004 is the year of the Sudanese-Saudi relations, adding that the two countries succeeded in holding the meeting of the joint political committee and the joint ministerial committee, co-chaired by ministers of foreign trade, referring to the recent visits of the Saudi ministers of agriculture and education to Sudan and signing of number of agreements between the two countries.

The minister further explained that the joint ministerial committee between Sudan and the United Arab Emirates would be held next month, pointing out that the minister of interior will leave for Abu Dhabi next week to hold talks with his counterpart, affirming development of bilateral relations at all the domains.

As for the relations linking Sudan and Sultanate of Oman, Dr Isma’il described them as distinguished due to exchange of visits and set up of the joint ministerial committee, explaining that President Al-Bashir recently received a special envoy of HM the Sultan of Oman.

Dr Isma’il described that the relations linking Sudan and Egypt as the spearhead of the Sudanese-Arab relations, referring to signing of the four-freedom agreement early April, saying the Sudanese-Egyptian relations have become a model for the relations between the neighbouring countries.
