Sudan and JEM to hold talks on ceasefire agreement
March 16, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — After several days of talks sponsored by the Chadian government, Sudanese government and rebel Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) agreed to resume talks in Doha in order to sign a ceasefire agreement, a Sudanese official said.
Ndjamena facilitated a meeting between two delegations from the government and JEM rebels to break the deadlock in Doha peace talks since the signing of a framework agreement between the two parties on February 23.
JEM had threatened to withdraw from the Doha process if another group engages a separate peace process. It calls other rebels to merge within its movement and to have one rebel delegation during the negotiations with Khartoum. But LJM rebels said only willing to coordination of positions without merger.
The rebel group also asked to delay the elections saying it is necessary for a lasting settlement of the conflict. But Sudanese officials rejected the demand.
Ndjamena talks have failed to pave the ways for a final peace agreement with JEM, said Amin Hassan Omer in a statement to the pro-government SMC on Tuesday. He further added that the parties agreed only to continue talks in order to sign a ceasefire agreement.
In accordance with the framework agreement the parties had to sign a ceasefire agreement before March 15.
Informed sources from the Chadian capital said JEM leader left the Chadian capital to Darfur.
On the other hand, Sudanese Vice President Ali Osman Taha will attend the signing ceremony of a framework agreement between the government and the rebel Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) led by El-Tijani El-Sissi scheduled for Thursday March 18.
Senior Presidential Assistant Minni Minnawi and Presidential Adviser Ghazi Salah Al-Deen are also expected to accompany Taha for the signing ceremony.
The new rebel LJM is formed by two groups called previously Tripoli and Addis Ababa groups on February 23 the day where Sudanese government delegation and the rebel Justice and Equality Movement inked a framework agreement.

Sudan and JEM to hold talks on ceasefire agreement
That type of agreement signinig should not be an agreement whereby the two side tomorrow will return to fight each other, why I do say this because NCP Party are alway not full committed in any agreement.
JEM,be very alert let not Tahan plus his wrong elements deceived you.But I know very well that when Yasir Saad Arman came on power as the president of the republic of the Sudan he is the only master Key for the permanent ceasefire for the Darfuri people.God Bless you all.
