April 10, 2010 (JUBA) — Authorities from southern state of Warrap have pledged full and adequate security measures to protect voters at the polling days urging citizens to turn up on Sunday in large numbers without fear of threats or intimidations.
The state authorities say trained security forces currently are deployed to protect voters at polling stations in and around Kwajok, the capital of Warrap.

“Voters should not worry at all,” said caretaker governor, Lieutenant General Salva Mathok Gengdit who warned against violence saying “those promoting mayhem will face the wrath of the law. Security forces will not tolerate violence and those promoting anarchy will face the wrath of the law,” he said.
Speaking to the press on Friday to mark the end of electoral campaign the governor the state administration will not allow perpetrators of violence regardless of their positions in society or political affiliation.
“It does not matter to which political party one may belong, whether my party in reference to SPLM or not, violence is against the law and will be dealt with in a manner it deserves,” General Mathok said.
Fears of violence during and after the elections are general in the country due to the boycott of the elections by some opposition forces, intimidations and arrest of some local figures.
However the governor said there was no case of intimidation or arrest in the homeland of the president of southern Sudan government Salva Kiir.
“Even when there were derogatory statements and personal attacks by members of some political parties which were observed, I have never heard intimidation of anyone by security forces affiliated to the SPLM,” he said.
These were treated as electoral campaign speeches with intention to garner support from local population whom he said were able to tell candidates their weakness than state authorities, he stressed

I don’t harbor any doubt whatsoever about the capabilities of the State Authorities to prevent any form of terror in Warrrap state. However, I doubt whether the authorities have the Nuer-Apuk border in mind. I fear that cattle-keepers who will go to cast their votes will be shocked to find that their cattle are nowhere to be seen again. Authorities from both states should strongly assure the locals about the security of their properties.
