Lam Akol rejects South Sudan election results

April 27, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — The chairman of the SPLM- Democratic Change Lam Akol, who was Salva Kiir’s challenger for southern Sudan presidency, rejected today the elections results accusing his former party of rigging the vote.

Yesterday the National Elections Commission (NEC) declared the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM)’s chairman Salva Kiir Mayardit President of the southern Sudan government with 93% of the votes while his sole challenger Lam Aokl got 7%.

“The elections were rigged and the percentage of the votes obtained by the president of south Sudan shows this,” said the SPLM-DC leader in a press conference held in Khartoum with other leaders of southern Sudan opposition parties as Bona Malual and Joseph Lago.

Akol, who had broken away from his party, SPLM, and established the SPLM-DC in June 2009, was chosen by all the opposition ASSPP to run for presidency of e southern Sudan government.

The members of the SSPPA are: SANU, UDSF, United Democratic Party, SPLM-DC, Sudan National Labor Party, USAP-2, South Sudan Democratic Forum, South-Sudan Democratic Front.

The defeated candidate of the southern opposition further vowed to contest the election results in court demanding to cancel the announced results; adding they established a file for the widespread rigging and irregularities committed by the southern Sudan ruling party.

Lam Also blamed the NEC saying it had no control on the electoral operations in the south where the international observers were absent from the majority of polling stations particularly outside the big centers, according to the PLM-DC chairman.

According to the figures published by the electoral board some ten million Sudanese including 2.8 million in southern Sudan took part in the first multiparty election since 24 years.

This election will be followed by a referendum on southern Sudan self-determination planned to take place in January 2011.

Akol warned that the bad conduct of the elections could impact negatively on the referendum.

“I think the rigging will have a negative impact on the referendum. If people remain silent in the face of this cheating, the referendum itself will be rigged,” Akol warned.

Presidential adviser, Bona Maluwal, who is also the leader South Sudan Democratic forum (SSDF) and Joseph Lago former vice president and UDSF leader echoed Akol accusation of fraud and lack of democratic atmosphere in the South.

I regrete for those population of 7% who vote for traitor instead of them to give Dr Lam Akol 0% in the South so that he can be proud in the North not the South.
Please Dr Lam Akol, there is no way you waste your spare time talking to the media while you know very well that you are like none politician in the South.
You mislead many commmunities(Naath) to defect during the war and let alone your ministery position in which you play around like Arab North.

If i were you, then i should come to South Sudan to join SPLM and abolish DC because that party of yours is shame employed by Bashier against your people in the South. Or if you don,t want then the other alternative is to search for asylum. Thanks

A defeated hyena is crying for help but I don’t see any sign of appeal in this. He was not even close to claim anything and the voters in the south are not stupid to vote for him anyway.

Stay in Khartoum after referendum because we don’t have any office space for you in the south. What we have is a grave for you. The result shows that only stupid people voted for you. Your upper Nile people.

Is referendum at risk coz of your alliance. No it isn’t. South Sudanese vehicle has not reverse gear. We move forward every second, those of you still in the 70s and 90s will continue to cry foul

You are so acculturated into North Sudan Arabic culture that you don’t believe in your heritage and the cause of your people.

With time you are going to disappear into your villages. Keep crying …

The Dinkas are very happy that they won elections through rigging. Dinkas are known to be thefts. This means the looting of government money will continue. But you Dinkas will have hard times ahead. Either you unite with the north or fight the next war alone. Cowards and fuck all Dinkas.

Like John Garang said, “The word democratic is being misused now aday in Sudan, even a devil can called himself a freedom fighter”. Dr. Lam Akol, you should go back to construction business with your architecural PHD. You in the balloon think that it is the ground that is moving away, but your immune and tendency to disregards your failure are hunting you down. You are moving far away from your ground and pretty soon, you will be in oxygen deficiency atmosphere and you can’t scubadive. Your supporters will wonder to what the hell did you got yourself into. Your colleagues and likes such as Bona Mawal and Joseph Lago should have warned you before the whole mess. you’re lucky to have 7% cushion beneath your wicked bottom. Southerners for the seeks of freedom, will not listens to your little talks. Take it like a man and go home mourning should you ever have one. Go and have life, builds something big, a tower in your hometown at least before you become too old and useless. You should not disputed the democratic election result if you are not insane. Heroes are winners, traitors are loosers, should not take a PHD holder to figure that out. Remember, America was one time ruled by somebody without a high school certificates.

Mr. Lam must know that there is no court under the sun that will come and change the way we voted. Please go home and take a nap. We have spoken and that is final.
