SPLM slams calls for war by NCP official

By Ngor Arol Garang

October 3, 2010 (KHARTOUM)- The ruling party in the semi-autonomous region of south Sudan, Sudan people’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), has deplored statements in which a senior official of the ruling party in north Sudan called on citizens to prepare for war if the south seceded in a vote scheduled to take place in January 2011.

In an interview with Sudan Tribune on Sunday, the secretary of political affairs at south Sudan’s secretariat of the SPLM, Antipas Nyok, said that remarks attributed to the presidential adviser Mustafa Osman Ismail were “sad and disturbing.”

On October 1, Presidential adviser Mustafa Osman Ismai, who is also a senior member of the National Congress Party (NCP) in north Sudan, called on the country’s youth and students to prepare for war to defend the country against the challenges it would face in the event of south Sudan’s secession.

“The war remark made by Mustafa Osman Ismail revealed the true character of the National Congress Party. It shows lack of commitment to bringing peace and stability to the country which has been subjected to a lot of bloodshed since independence,” said Nyok,

“Such loaded utterance”, added Nyok, “explains that Sudan has not been able to enjoy peace and development.”

Tension is building between north and south Sudan ahead of a referendum vote in which the latter is supposed to vote on whether to remain united with the north or secede to form an independent state.

We are ready for peace as well as ready for war Mr Ismail as such this time around War is no longer in the southern bushes where by you are used to this time you will smell it and is not going to be easy to mobalizing Darfurian and the Nubian or even use religion for killing innocent southerners. However what remain is let see your first bullet.
You need to know that we are not the same people of 80’s we are totally different otherwise threat of war will result in you people running back to Arabian peninsula.

Mr. Mustafa Osman Ismail & the so called the minister of information’s statments should be taken seriously by the SPLM and prepare themselves for the D. Day period. This will be the end of wars in Sudan if the NCP don’t reverse their language of threat they always issued to the southerners. This war will be quick and easy, but ugly to all of us then they thought. I believe that the mighty SPLA warriors will crashed their unkillful (Majadein to hell if they dare to solve this referendum by war instead of let us go without war.

Comr. Antipas let them wage the war this time. We are ready for them in all fronts. remember the Late Dr. Garang who told NCP that he was able to bring peace and stability in all Sudan. He warned Islamists that if they disrespect thise agreement then this will be the end of them. Now the end of Arab rule in Sudan is over dued their sun has set only left the rays which would disappear very soon.
