SLM’s Nur appoints rebel commissioners and chairman of legislative organ

February 11, 2011 (KHARTOUM) — Abdel Wahid Al-Nur leader of the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) Friday appointed seven leading members among them the head of the executive body and the chairman of the legislative organ.

In a decree issued on Friday the SLM leader and President of the Supreme Leadership Council appointed Salah Al-Deen Adam Tor (known also as Salah Rassas) as General Commissioner and Suleiman Marajan as Chairman of the Revolutionary Liberation Council.

The presidential decision also appointed Bushara Al-Tayeb Ahmed Bosh as deputy of the General Commissioner, Ahmed Ibrahim Yousef Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, Hafiz Yousef Abdel-Rahman Hamouda Commissioner for Political Affairs, Abdelatif Abdel-Rahman Abkr Commissioner for Peace Affairs and Aziza Ibrahim Adam, Commissioner for Social and Cultural Affairs.

Al-Nur left Paris since two months to Kenya where he engaged broad consultations to reorganize the Movement and take crucial decisions on the issue of peace and war. The rebel leader said committed to take part in the peace process.

He and the mediators said in contact over the participation of the rebel group in the peace process in Doha.

Amin Hassan Omer Sudanese government top negotiator will return to Doha with a small team to discuss pending issues in the negotiations they concluded last December with the rebel Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM).

The delegation also is expected to review with the mediation ways to resume talks with the Justice and the Equality Movement (JEM) after the signing of a truce between the two parties.

The mediation said preparing a peace document to serve as ground for any negotiated peaceful settlement between the government and the other rebel groups.
