UNMIS CONDEMNS THE SHOOTING OF FOUR PEACEKEEPERS IN ABYEI

Four UNMIS Zambian peacekeepers were shot at and wounded today while on patrol in Abyei by unknown armed assailants.

The incident took place this afternoon at around 16h40 in Goli, approximately 25 kilometers north of Abyei town.

The four wounded peacekeepers, one of whom in a serious condition, have been evacuated to Abyei for medical treatment.

UNMIS strongly condemns this unprovoked attack and has commenced an investigation into the incident.
