Sudan’s Bashir threatens to turn off oil pipelines

June 21, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese president Omer Hassan al-Bashir on Tuesday threatened to shut down the pipelines that transfer oil from the landlocked South to Port Sudan on the Red Sea unless a revenue sharing deal is reached by next month.

South Sudan is a little over two weeks away from declaring its independence officially which came after the referendum held last January which resulted in an almost unanimous vote in favor of secession from the North.

But several contentious post-referendum arrangements have yet to be agreed on between the ex-foes mainly including border demarcation, citizenship, splitting national debt and oil sharing. The latter is a sensitive issue as both sides are largely dependent on oil proceeds to fund their budgets.

The ruling National Congress Parity (NCP) and Sudan people Liberation Movement (SPLM) are negotiating a compromise on those items among others with the mediation efforts of the African Union (AU) in the Ethiopian capital.

While the south holds around 75% of Sudan’s oil reserves, the north has the refineries and pipelines. The south needs Khartoum’s co-operation to sell its oil; the north needs revenues from its neighbor’s resources.

Currently the North and the South are splitting the proceeds of crude in accordance with the terms of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) signed in 2005.

Southern officials initially said that they could temporarily continue the oil sharing formula but as relations between the NCP and SPLM deteriorated sharply in recent months the idea was dropped.

Today the Sudanese leader said that Southerners have three options with regard to the oil.

“I give the south three alternatives for the oil….either the north continues getting its share, or we gets fees for every barrel that the south sends to Port Sudan,” Bashir told supporters at a rally in Port Sudan.

“If they [Southerners] don’t accept that, we’re going to shut down the pipeline,” he added.

Bashir slammed statements by Southern officials in which they threatened to deny the North “even a single gallon of oil”.

“We will not beg or accept their conditions. Our choices are known to them; splitting [oil revenue] or our full right in the oil that passes through our land or let them find another exporting alternative,” he said.

South Sudan president Salva Kiir has reportedly discussed with Kenya’s president Mwai Kibaki this month the possibility of using Kenyan ports to export its oil. However, some analysts have questioned the feasibility of such a venture.

Officials in North Sudan have stepped up their warnings over the economic impact of the South’s secession on the economy.

Last week the minister of finance and national economy Ali Mahmood Hassanein said that the North will lose 36.5% of its income after the South goes away. He said there are contingency plans are in place that aim to cushion the fallout.

Currently the economy in the North is marred by soaring inflation rates and chronic shortage in hard currency. Furthermore, Sudan has a crippling $38 billion in external debt.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) in a report released last April said that the North “will need to adjust to a permanent shock” particularly given the limited access to external financing. Sudan is under comprehensive economic sanctions since 1997.

“With oil revenue constituting more than half of government revenue and 90 percent of exports, the economy will need to adjust to a permanent shock, particularly at a time when the country has little access to external financing. The size and nature of the necessary adjustment could have significant implications for growth and macroeconomic stability”, said the IMF report.

Under that scenario, it is also assumed that North Sudan will witness a 10% decline in non-oil GDP to reflect the share of the South in total non-oil economic activity as well as a decline in oil related services; an increase in service receipts to reflect the transportation fees charged for the transportation of South’s share of oil; a decline in both transportation payments and investment income payments to reflect lower oil production; a decline in imports of goods to reflect the shares of the oil sector and the South; an increase in imports of petroleum products to reflect the shortfall in domestic production..

To confront this scenario, the IMF stressed that North Sudan will need to reduce spending, lift fuel subsidies, reduce tax exemptions and enhance revenue administration.

If President Omar Al Bashir think his masters in Beijing and New Delhi will accept his radical and irrational decision without consequences on his government then let him switch the oil pipelines off.
Al Bashir can’t threaten South Sudan to force it into hasty agreement meant to squander South Sudan resources again.
The exclusive South Sudan oil right given to your NIF/NCP Islamic fundamentalists and terrorists by your former slave and militia Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon in 1997 cannot be allowed to continue unchecked.
It is time for South Sudan to make a favourable agreement that only hires pipeline at internationally agreed rate.

    Dear Junubini;
Bashir want to prove to the world that he is the only powerful man in Africa and would soon declared himself as Deputy to the terrorist sucessor. He might be right to keep on threatening Southerners because, he threatened Southerners and that is why Temporary Agreement on Abyei was signed just because the Abyei agreement signed on 20th June in Addis-ababa has altered Abyei protocol as well as PCA in the Hague. Misseriya are now allowed to have a share in the Abyei administration as well as the Abyei Council. Therefore, Bashir think that he must use the tool “Threatening Southerners” so that he got the 50% oil share from the south. Already Southerners are divided on ethical and political lines.
If all of us react overwhlemingly just like the referendum exercise and results, Mr. Bashir would immediately withdraw his continue threats.

It is up to the Southerners to select one of his three options. Otherwise, South Sudan should not keep on receiving threats from Bashir. Oil Pipe lines should be blocked and we need to open a new pipeline or construct our own refinery. It is just a matter of time to do ours. However, those who were after money will they accept perserverance and hardship? I doubt.

I pity you for your shallow understanding and that is why you will never understand the strategy used by Dr. Riek Machar in 1997 to shoot three birds with one stone. That is putting a feeding on the hook into the mouth of jallaba while bringing Americans to support peace in Sudan through that exposure of oil in Bentiu. Bashir was caught while trying to swallow the Nuer oil in the name of peace on self-determination. That also showed Americans that the South is potentially rich and can become an economic zone to the USA if peace is achieved. That was achieved by the oil exposure otherwise, Americans would have thought of the South as a poor area not worthy of wasting time on. Also the other political strategy used by the champion and father of self-determination, Dr. Riek Machar, was to leave Garang vulnerable militarily so that he could succumb to the demand of self-determination which he was blackmailed to reject for so long by northerners inside SPLM/A.

So, don’t complain now after getting your freedom through strategies attached to the resources of our land in order for you to be free at last. Now what has your uncle done for the last six years of peace on self-determination? No pipeline, no refineries and no port were secured for the last six years. They have been eating money like orphans forgetting that the South would become independent and need pipelines, refineries and port for the export of oil. The money from the oil in Unity state and Upper Nile state, which you ate like orphans, could have built you all those facilities in six years and save you from complaining against Bashir like greedy foolish and visionless thugs.

One of your officials came abroad here last time to beg for money for GOSS and he was told point blank that his own bank account, leaked out by the Wicky Leaks, can finance the projects he was asking for. And that is one of your greedy and visionless uncles who stole the money among your other uncles. Now why do you complain against Bashir when you had no vision to get prepared for six years? Stupid creatures.

Let Basheir bark but the reality is south Sudan has gone with 100% of oil revenue on its soil.

Eitheir basheir has agreed to be paid fixed amount as a hire for the pipeline or else the pipeline will have no value to Basheir.

South has abundance of resources and it will not harm south if it stops selling oil in the meantime to find another alternative of selling its oil.

Why is every thing from the north comes as a surprise to Salva Kiir’s leadership? I thought he and his three consecutive ministers of finance from his Bhar el Ghazal region would have avoided corruption and invest also in pipelines to Mombassa, refineries in Unity state or Upper Nile. This would have avoided the current vulnerability from the north after six good years wasted since 2005. Or did they think the South was going to vote for unity. Pathetic!!!

When South went to war it was because of looting of South Sudan resources by the North,so why share?!.We anticipated this scenario & shutting down of pipelines will not harm us in anyway,we want to use our oil sustainably, giving future generations their share,so shutting down of pipelines will not harm us since the oil is not going to rot, moreover, constructing pipelines through Kenya wont take long,it will take shorter time than the time taken by Portsudan route.Haa,people of Eastern Sudan will soon destroy all the pipelines that go to port Sudan & given that pending war the South is not willing to rely on Port Sudan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you (GOSS) have Plan B or C since succession is inevitable? How are you going to fund GOSS projects if GOS or GOSS decided to turn off the tap by either of you?
I did respect Mr Jongkuch responses to my questions, however I kept my sanity to this date and I would further ask the same questions again noting that it is too for Plan B and C….

Truthteller aka Lie Teller – the right name for you

First correction – Oil in South Sudan was discovered by American and French companies in 1978 – So never lie that Americans and whole western world did not know about oil in South Sudan till it was drilled by Chinese and Indians in 1998.
You can never get your full rights when you are negotiating on a weak position. I should not elaborate this point much because you know very well the fate of Addis Ababa Peace Agreement and KPA which were negotiated on weak positions. There is no way you can justify that Riek Machar rebellion allied to South Sudan main enemy was helping South Sudan people to get their rights by weakening their true liberation movement and succumb it to the negotiating table fully weakened to extent of having no ability to demand something substantial such as self-determination and separate army to safe guide South Sudan interests in case of resumption of hostilities. It was clear, when Riek Machar surrendered the whole of Upper Nile land and oil to Arabs, NIF/NCP was no longer willing to negotiate peace with SPLA/M mainstream but instead went on military offensive with the morale boasted by Riek Machar surrender to crash SPLA/M throughout Equatoria in 1992, the only SPLA/M stronghold by then. NIF/NCP and Arabs only accepted peace talks and mediation after SPLA/M became strong again and began to wage dreadful attacks against Arabs forces, and Riek Machar militias from 1993 onwards. NCP/NIF only accepted peace after recognizing through several defeats of their forces that SPLA/M had fully recovered from Riek Machar disastrous split of the movement and his wastage of South Sudan manpower and military assets which were deployed to his area.
So my brother, just accept shame and request for forgiveness from your visionary and resilient brothers who finally brought you freedom on a golden plate after Riek Machar and his followers almost rendered South Sudanese to everlasting slavery.
On GOSS corruption, the problem is a South Sudan problem not a Dinka problem, do you think Riek Machar and other Nuer members in GOSS are clean people in that corruption? All GOSS elites are corrupt and must be condemned for that behaviour not Dinka officials alone.

I realy wonder what is going arround without any route. Let us all think here; If Bashir closes the pipelines how will he benefit from it and if South doesn’t want to share, how will they export or refine it?
The issue of the 3 condition is not any thing difficult to understand and because the South need development fund that must come from the oil revenue and that means the refineries and the pipelines must work, so if the South says they want Kenya to cooperate with have they(South) calculated the bill of constructing the pipe lines to Kenya?
It’s better to agree with Khartoum to pay them some penny as South prepares that route as plan B yet they will still have to pay to the ever corrupt kenyans who don’t even recognize you as human being. They are exploitative than the ARABS.
Do you know that kenyans said ‘God said in the Bible that Kenya will punish Sudan?’ is that a friend or enemy?
Wake up junubins soften your relationship with the Arabs than the Kenyans because the Arabs are your cousins whom you understand better.Pay them the charges for exportation.

The three alternative given by the President Omer al-Bashir are not logical, they are from selfish philosophy,”I gain you you gain, or I loss you loss” where do you find a deal that a country shares in the resources of another country, or charge by a barrel (because it is the same) and if the country doesn’t accept close down the pipelines. For me let him closed them down, we were even living without patrol for a very long time. You also said before that carry your patrol through whatever you would used but not portsudan. This are selfish conclusions from your head of state and you. But remember that every neighborhood there are dealings always, but if you refused the deal given to you, I think southerners will find an alternative sooner or later, so let him not utters his unbalance and illogical threatens every time.

    Ah Nhomlawda,

This is why I said from the beginning that I pity you because of your low understanding when it comes to how strategies get implemented. Late John Garang was the only person among your uncles who understood the impact of the strategy used by Dr.Riek Machar from 1991 to 2005.

Now you just assume that your freedom on self-determination just occured because soldiers had been fighting and shooting guns since 1983 and suddenly peace came on a golden plate in 2005. Can you tell me how that shooting of guns from 1983 on the objective of united Sudan on socialism turned into self-determination for separation. I know you will not, because you don’t know!

Yes, Americans discovered oil in 1978 in Bentiu, but was closed down and did not even know how huge the reserves are until it was reopened again in 1999 and exposed to them by Dr. Riek’s strategy. Dr. Riek knew that peace with self-determination would come despite Jallaba taking oil. This is based on his strategy that you the shallow minded drunkards will never understand because it is beyond your little brains.

Americans pushed for unity between Dr. Riek and Dr. Garang in 2002, after Garang became weak and his false promises to Americans that he would remove Bashir without the support from Dr.Riek failed miserably. He was told by Americans to join with Riek on self-determination or else he would risk being cut off from any support. Did you know that?

When the first protocol of the CPA was signed between the SPLM and NCP in July 2002, just six months after the unification between Riek and Garang, that first protocol was made sure by Dr. Riek that it was on self-determination. Did you know that?

And when the final peace agreement, CPA, was signed in January 2005, Torit town, where the war began in 1955, was still under the control of the Sudan Armed Forces of Bashir. Did you know that?

So, you would say we got peace while on weak military position if we could not control Torit up to 2005 when the CPA was signed. But because the CPA came through strategies, not mere military of SPLA, then it came despite Jallaba controlling our key towns of Juba, Malakal, Wau and even Torit, the former base of John Garang.

Please open your eyes and study wisely how did that peace come. And not only that it came, but it was made sure that it came on self-determination as championed by Dr. Riek.

You are just blind who only pick fruits falling from a true shaken by Dr. Riek and the Americans, and not forgetting Ngundeng, the unseen powerful prophet behind the fate of South Sudan.

    Hey Southerners,

Bashir has made up his mind and came up with what you heard. Those who do not understand politics or business should not have doubts that what Bashir has said will be implemented.

We’re in this dilemma because of the incompetence, shortsightedness and corruption of the GoSS. If we need to build a new pipe then we must wait for years. It won’t be economical too. Topography and security situation to East Africa is not friendly and if we managed to build our pipeline, it will also be very expensive to pump oil to the high coast of Kenya.

Those who think that we will receive foreign assistance to fully support the new state are dreaming. That will never happen, especially in light of the nasty political atmosphere and the prevailing political dictatorship in the South. I read this morning that the British parliament is anticipating a fail state in the South. Do they have reasons for that conclusion? Think with me!

As I said many times, we must coexist and cooperate for the mutual interests of our peoples. South cannot make it without the North. The North will not make it either without the South.

I hope we will not witness serious consequences due to childish and emotional behavior of NCP and GoSS.

It’s hard to believe how reasonable that threat is. South Sudan was on its way to shut it down already.
There are so many investors out there waiting for it.

However, obseved his mood,is going to have an heart-attacked the Day he will hear Great Happiness of Southerners,July 2011. This man is afailer and he will follow his counterpart Mahamad Gadafi in Libya. Turning off oil pipeline is not a malaria fever to us.

However,The Temporary Agreement signed in Ethiopian is the one which have alot of tricks from the North, some articles signed in the document did not specific which one to which, especially Police that was mention to control, the police that will be brought into Abyei will be from where? should it be from North or South or both.

Also, the pastoralist pasture were still allowed to continue coming to Abyei which were they fresh conflicted caused .instead of giving them halt until the Abyei problem is resolved, the encouraged their nagging arguement on every Table of negoitations.
So, the Document is weak but it was agreed on by two parties.

There was no unity between Riek Machar and John Garang in a sense you are putting it in your message but the later was persuaded to stop anarchy and mass lootings and killings of civilians in Upper Nile by forgiving Riek Machar and giving him a senior position in SPLA/M so that various Nuer warlords in Upper Nile who were causing mayhems and murdering civilians in masses could gain hope of being forgiven and reaccepted into SPLA/M.
After Riek Machar narrowly escaped death after his body guards were forcefully disarmed by NIF security agents. He was smuggled out of Khartoum to Nairobi, Kenya by foreign sympathizers without even a single body guard. While in Nairobi, Kenya completely demoralized and planning to go to exile in a western country, some friends of South Sudan in America saw an opportunity to stop anarchy and rampant killings and lootings in Upper Nile created by former Riek Machar supporters turned independent rival warlords.
The idea as said above was to persuade John Garang to forgive Riek Machar, give him a senior position in SPLA/M and issue a blanket amnesty for all former SPLA/M Nasir faction members and other independent warlords in Upper Nile to re-join SPLA/M Mainstream so that Nuer warlords could be removed from Upper Nile and assigned duties in South Sudan elsewhere so that lootings and killings could stop in Upper Nile region.
John Garang liked the idea and accepted it so that innocent civilian lives and properties could be spared from those ruthless Nuer warlords. John Garang implemented the idea and all Nuer warlords were removed from Upper Nile region to Rumbek and assign duties in South Sudan elsewhere by 2003.
So it was not a strategy brought by Riek Machar but Riek Machar was used so that Upper Nile people especially Nuer population could be saved from extinction due to merciless warlords’ activities that included indiscriminate killings, lootings and raping. Of course, Riek Machar benefited in that process and that is why he is a vice president now after being recovered fully wasted and exhausted by his own poor thinking. Pathetic creature!

Of course, Riek Machar benefited in that process and that is why he is a vice president now after being recovered fully wasted and exhausted by his own poor thinking. Pathetic creature!

Part 2 – Riek Machar sold South Sudanese into Everlasting Slavery in 1991 just to be Al Bashir’s English Interpreter

Riek Machar made southerners weak as a result of his 1991 rebellion and was it not because of Dinka people strong support of John Garang’s vision and commitment to fine results/outcomes regardless of difficulties, South Sudan was almost gone to savages and Islamic fundamentalists and terrorists.
NCP/NIF only accepted peace after recognizing through several defeats of their forces that SPLA/M had fully recovered from Riek Machar disastrous split of the movement and his wastage of South Sudan manpower and military assets which were deployed to his area of command.
So my brother, just accept shame and request for forgiveness from your visionary and resilient brothers (Dinka) who finally brought you freedom on a golden plate after Riek Machar and his followers almost surrendered South Sudanese into everlasting slavery.
On GOSS corruption, the problem is a South Sudan problem not a Dinka problem, do you think Riek Machar and other Nuer members in GOSS are clean people in that corruption? All GOSS elites are corrupt and must be condemned for that behaviour not Dinka officials alone.

    Adam,

We are not new to all this types of emotional propaganda,Southern Sudan has never said that it’s going to use Northern territory without paying for transit fees and the port. We are in a World of business, and we know how business is run. The equation is simple here, Southern Sudan is a buyer, while Northern Sudan is a seller. If a seller charge his/her goods and services at a high price, the buyer has a right to go to the next shop in search of cheap materials but of the same quality. That is exactly what Southern Sudan is doing now. Kenya is also a seller like North Sudan,Djibouti via Ethiopia is also another potential seller. Southern Sudan will explore all these potential sellers, and it will go for the cheaper one. It need no Salva Kiir to address the people of Southern Sudan that we are going to transport our oil to Kenya or Djibouti via Ethiopia.

Regarding the issue of corruption in the government of Southern Sudan, you may be right because it has not delivered what was expected from it within that last six years. But what do you say about the government that have rule the Sudan for 22 years, ruin it to the point of disintegration, killed 2.5 millions of it citizen in the South, and another 300,000 people in Darfur, has started another blood bath in Kordufan without ending the one in Drafur, and Eastern sudan inhabited by the Beja tribe, one of the oldest ethnic group in the Sudan is also at the boiling point. If the Khartoum led governments are immune from corruption; then, what is wrong with the Sudanese nation?. Why is the country fighting herself?.

I am waiting for your reply.

    Garang’s disciples,

In war, the skin of Fox is at times as necessary as that of a Lion, for cunning may succeed when force fails. Speaking from his underground rally, in a message to his subordinates in 1983, he declared that “the first bullet must be fired against the separatists [Anya-Nya II], as an attempt to impose his self-claimed “New Sudan,” vision on Southern Sudanese and hijacked the movement from its founders [separatists] altogether, coincidence?

Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon was compelled to declare Nasir move, not only because Mr. Marxist-Leninist Garang was running the movement like his own property which was acknowledged by Mr. Slava Kiir after it was already too late in 2004 when he find himself openly at odds with his superior, but due to lack of clear directions, objectives, principles and human rights for/in the movement.

For many years you are depending it? you had built Khartoum with this oil,you are prejudice. Since, 1956 we are trying to get our right, you have killed a lot of southern because of oil and until now you are doing that. What i would like to tell you that there are many nations can help us until we will change the direction of the pipe because you don’t want to benefit. there is proverb in arabic language said” al hassana fi monohuol zie sarraf fi gondoul”

I thought Bashir would have appreciated Southerners for many successes his NCP/NIF has been making so far through Southerners resources.Without any doubt I personally understood his three options threat and if I were Southerner’s president I would have simply tell him please shut down your bloody pipeline and leave us alone, I don’t a well wealthiest nation can lack some nations do a better with.
I am very proud that Bashir said that should not beg Southerners instead he have said thank you South for letting us used your resources in financing our struggle against you.Once again, my prediction is that,Northern Sudan will the poorest of all in the world and their national debts will never be lifted. Indeed, It was this Southerner’s oil that gave them credit in Arab nations as well as Russia, China and Iran including all Islamic extremist, let’s wait and see they will come to confess in good faith. Thank to NCP finance minister who have did a real rearch about the possibilties his notorous country economic is gonna be, we like those who admit the truth rather than denial the truth.Hope to see you after July the 9.

    Adam,

transit fee is a normal thing in international dealings. when one use the land of another country there are always obligations for the one using it to meet. In the case of Sudan with the south deals are more political the regulations known internationally. I said several times that we have many things common among us, but it seems that the NCP want it all or the south loss. The alternative in this case needs to be decided by GoSS/RoSS, and I think they will not surrender their right because of al-Bashir’s threats.

    Madut,

It a typical stansered international agreement. GoS and GOSS are not negotiating alone. The mediator is the World Bank and it is showing them all the relvent agreements between different countries all over the world.SPLA is rejecting all the proposals.

It may sound ” opportunistic” but this bussiness! Wouldn’t you rise the price of your oil when there is shortage or there is increased demand and vise versa!Hell, you will do.It is the same thing. This the law of the market. When you increase you price , I will increase the cost of passing through my land. You will do the same and I would’t say that is wrong.

The problem is just emmotinal.SPLA thinks, this is our oil and we will not give the bloody jalabba a single gallon! Well , the jalabba will say: ok I will not let you use my land! Both need each and will continue to do so for centuries to come.A win-win solution is the best for all.

Even Hillary clinton suggested that oil revenues should be split like in Nivasha.

Bottom-line thie should not be a matter of dispute, an eady and amicable solution could be reached according to the international norms without any harsh talk from any person.

I agree with you that an agreement over the use of the land of Sudan has to be reached according to the international laws. But the way the President Omer al-Bashir issues threats all this time become unbearable. You cannot issue threats to someone who needs you and you need him, you give yourselves time to understand the facets and then agree on what will benefit both parties.

Observation, the party who is on negotiation is not SPLA but SPLM. so, note that difference between the army and the party. I hope they will reach logical agreement not on the barrel basis or sharing, or shutdown the pipes.

Is shutting down pipelines too much for intoxicated dictator Al-Bashir? What about calling those who built refinners in the North Sudan and pipelines to Port’s Sudan? I mean China. Did he need help to call them come and shut it down? Then, I sured you if Bashir don’t do it, the ROSS will shut it down indefinitely and don’t even remind us. The ROSS known when, where the secret pipelines that have been enjoy by your murdererous Khartoum’s government for decades to fulfilled the livelihoops of the North would now come to an end.

Furthermore, I got another idea, what about shutting down refinered and oil pipelines then we shut down River’s Nile? How is that sound? Remember, we don’t give a damn about Egypt and if they want, it will be Ethiopia VS Egypt, Kenya VS Somalia, Tanzania VS Libya, and Republic Of South Sudan VS Republic Of Sudan and call it a third war war what you gonna say sucker? You should remember the only way that is open is the way to hell not heaven if you can’t understand better son of a bit….h.
Do it now why are you wasting your times with threat after threats who cares? Omar Hassan Al-Bashir don’t have kids and he is under international warranty while he is pooling you in the North Sudan that he got advantage, what kind? continue playing with fire and you will regrets in the near future.

Oil makes up 98% of South Sudan’s GDP
Oil makes up 40% of North Sudan’s GDP

Who suffers more when the oil stops flowing – you do the Maths

    Simple Business Logic

I have a pipeline that you want to use – ok what do you want to pay me to use it? Oh you don’t to pay me – no problem don’t use it

Is it really that difficult to understand? seriously?

Please understand for your own good – Oil on your side of the border is 100% yours – but you are a landlocked country if you want to sell that oil then come talk to me and we can do business

Ok you want to build your own pipeline that is a very good idea – you should definitely do that – good luck

You want to use your imaginary pipeline to threaten me – very good negotiation skills – I like that

Just one thing – I know and you know – that you had $11bn (YES THAT’S RIGHT US DOLLARS 11,000,000,0000) over the past 6 years and you haven’t even been able to build 50km of roads – do you really think this is a credible threat? really?

    Dear Mr. Mach Achiek

Thank you for your polite comment. I cannot agree with you more.

As for corruption, we have nothing to do with the corruption of the government in the North. Our South Sudan Government received about 11 billion USD and six full years, but was unable to build anything tangible. The money was stolen brother. Our people are suffering and they will continue to suffer because of the continuing incompetence, corruption and shortsightedness of the GoSS. Brother, SPLM/A behavior cannot be changed or improved because there are no Human Resources to depend on. The same old corrupted, ignorant and emotional guys are in power. They are even tailoring a constitution to guarantee their iron grasp on power and wealth.

Let the Northerners solve their problems and corruption. Let us think how we are going to deal with our leadership plight.
