The Unity state government has laid the blame on the remaining militias who have not responded to an amnesty offer during South Sudan’s independence celebration in July this year.

In an interview with Sudan Tribune on Monday ,the state minister of information and communication, Gideon Gatpan Thoar, officially confirmed that the deaths and injuries.

He added that he believed the land mines were placed by the militia loyal to Gai Yoach, currently in Heglig town; the location of an important oil production facility.

Five died and 20 were injured in Unity state in August in another land mine incident, which Thoar also blamed on Yoach’s troops.

Yoach was promoted to leader of the rebel group, South Sudan Liberation Movement / Army, after the August ceasefire of its previous head, Peter Gadet.

Unity state has been subject to much rebel conflict. The current rainy season has compounded the situation by making transportation more difficult and the area more isolated.

The way militias are killing their fellow South Sudanese is a high degree of ignorance. Why then fight during the struggle.Does it mean such people did not know why they joined the recent concluded struggle for freedom from the slavery?
It disturbs me very much.People fought for Freedom,it is achieved why again go for senseless wars.
