US warns South Sudan on support to SPLM-N

November 21, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – South Sudan must cease any support it provides to Sudan People Liberation Movement North (SPLM-N) that is currently engaged in fighting with Khartoum in the border states of Blue Nile and South Kordofan, the United States said today.

US_white_house_logo.jpgThe message was delivered to the South Sudan government during a visit by the White House Deputy National Security Adviser Denis McDonough to Juba and Khartoum that started last week.

The US special envoy to Sudan, Princeton Lyman and the interim US Chargé d’Affaires in Khartoum Mary C. Yates’ also participated in the meetings that took place.

“In Juba, Mr. McDonough and Special Envoy Lyman addressed these same crises and the need to respect the sovereignty of Sudan, including by ending support for the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) in Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile,” said a statement released by the National Security Council spokesman, Tommy Vietor.

Both states border the newly independent state of South Sudan and their population largely fought alongside the south during Sudan’s north-south second civil war 1983-2005.

“They reiterated the United States’ deep concern over continuing fighting in Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile and the ongoing humanitarian crisis caused by the fighting, which is exacerbated by the Government of Sudan’s blocking of international humanitarian assistance to the civilian population,” Vietor said.

The statement out of Washington will likely provide a moral boost to Khartoum which has lodged two complaints this year with the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) claiming that Juba is aiding SPLM-N fighters.

Sudanese president Omer Hassan al-Bashir threatened that his country is running out of patience is prepared to go to war over South Sudan’s support to SPLM-N.

Sudan also accused the US of coordinating with the Government of South Sudan (GoSS) to condemn Khartoum in the UNSC. This came after United Nations said this month that Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) bombed a refugee camp inside South Sudan

I wonder if the US is getting their facts right! Obama Administration has become the stupid cow that easily manipulated by the Khartoum regime. How the US warns when the NCP has committed (still) atrocities in the Blue Nile and South Kordofan? What measures US may take to stop these atrocities from happening? Isn’t Darfur a prime example for the US to learn from! Lord have mercy…

If not because the Arabs are deciding to introduce murder of civlian in all conflicting regions in Sudan,Why they stop hummanitarian support to civilian who are suffering and dying in Blue nile, Kordufan, Abyei and Darfur? Is because they know that even if the Sudanese are killing themselves and finish the Arab should be happy that they realise their goal.

US should warns both sides if it needs to do so. It is extremely dangerous statement by the US. This statement will boost the war like attitudes of Khartoum to step up more wars. US should never release such statement. Sudan has been supporting rebels in South since CPA and currently yet, US never said anything.

It is very unfortunate that rumours emanating from the Sudan government accusing South Sudan of support to SPLM-N triger warning from the Obama administration while factual evidences presented by the government of SOuth Sudan such as the capture of SAF Helicopter, discovery of anti tank mines and amunitions bearing marks used by SAF with Athor’s forces triger silence from the Obama administration

God have mercy on South Sudan – this black African nation whose citizens in all ten states do not have the same right for existence as Arabs or any other race.
We were voiceless but our God heard us, and continue to be voiceless, but the soverign God will not forget us. God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, bless your sons and daughters at the border lines of South Sudan – AMEN

People, we cant keep treating Juba like the victim, when it is now the aggressor. Khartoum is evil, yes. But the sad fact is that Juba and SPLM-N resisted any effort to deal with the 40k SPLA soldiers stuck in the North after independence. If they had been cantoned or demobilized this wouldnt be happening. Juba is to blame for the current state of conflict. Khartoum is to blame for its tactics.

US need to reconsidered its policies toward Africans, the regime is waging campaign of genocide in the Sudan for so long, yet we didn’t see any tangible from the U.S administration of ending genocide only few handful of advocate groups tried in their own but fail to get support, if there was Arab springs in Egypt they, Tunisia, Libya they were quick to response.

The US is what it is!They are after their own interest, and that is their ligitimate right. It is for us to face the facts. No supplies can come to the rebells except from the South, except from the moon.Americans donnot need Sudan telling what is going on the borders, they have their own intelligence. The question remains do we want to continue war directly or indirectly or do we want peace..cont

..Peace is the best option for both!If Sudan is supporting the rebells in the south it should stop doing so , same applies for the South.Unfortunately you all here support the rebel and continue with the saga of Arabs and non-Arabs and..bla..bla.If you were interested to change something in Sudan, you should have chosen to remain one country! Now we are two different countries,..cont

Even if the Government of the Republic of South Sudan cut military supply to the movement in the North as it has been accused with, this will not deterrent the SPLM-N to fight for their genuine cause. It should be suggested to US to mediate the conflict at the same level as it did between the former SPLA/M and NCP instead.
