18 killed, six wounded in Jonglei’s Pigi county: official
July 17, 2014 (JUBA) – At least 18 people were killed and six others wounded after unknown gunmen attacked a village north of South Sudan’s Jonglei state on Wednesday, an official said.
“The attack occurred in Pigi county’s Cuei village between rivers. 18 civilians are known to have lost their lives and six others are wounded,” commissioner Dau Gueny told Sudan Tribune by phone
“All the cattle are taken by the attackers who we believe are rebels coming Lou Nuer,” he added in reference to Jonglei’s territory inhabited by members of the Nuer ethnic group.
Pigi is separated by Nile River from Malakal, the Upper Nile state capital.
Sudan Tribune was unable to confirm who carried out the gruesome attack.
