Achol, who was replaced while admitted in hospital, welcomed her successor saying she respects the decision taken by the assembly’s majority.

“Four years in the leadership of the assembly, I faced a lot of things, with people coming out to say things which when I take time and reflect, find it is because of leadership. I have endured a lot,” she said.

Isaac Makau Ayok was appointed the new speaker of the state assembly.

“I think it is time for these people to change these characters. They need to respect women,” she said during Ayok’s inauguration occasion.

The former speaker, while referring to the manner in which lawmakers relate in the house, said the welcomes assembly’s decision much as it was done in her absence.

“This is what our country requires of us. We must obey people’s wish by allowing them to transfer leadership from one person to another whom they feel can bring change that they desire,” said Achol.

“I am not upset about my removal because this is normal in politics and as leaders we must expect this to happen anytime,” she added.
