USAID to grant 10 million dollars to improve roads in southern Sudan

NAIROBI, Aug 10 (AFP) — The US government’s Agency for International Development (USAID) pledged more than 10 million dollars to improve infrastructure in war-ravaged southern Sudan, officials said.

“We will cover initially approximately one-third of the second phase, which is 32 million dollars, for rehabilitation of infrastructure in southern Sudan,” USAID Assistant Administrator for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance Rodger Winter told a press conference in Nairobi.

“That will be in the neighbourhood of a little more than 10 million dollars, which will be given to the UN World Food Programme to improve roads and dykes in the region,” Winter added.
