Wau state: former ministers told to stay home

December 29, 2015 (WAU) – Ministers in the split Western Bahr el Ghazal state have been ordered not to report to work until new appointed governors take oath of office in Juba and form their respective state cabinets in accordance with the created 28 states per the order of South Sudanese president, Salva Kiir.

The secretary general for the council of ministries in the now defunct Western Bahr el Ghazal state, Tom Ismail Jene, said the order came from the national secretary general of the government in Juba that ministers should not report to work, only civil servants will continue to work until new governments were formed.

Speaking to Sudan Tribune, Jene said he was now the acting senior official in the state government after dissolution of the state and splitting it into two different states of Wau and Lol, which is combined with new state from Northern Bahr el Ghazal.

“I have received directives from the secretary general for the national government that as the new governors have been announced, they will soon take over their duties in each state, and therefore, it is a normal change in the government,” he said.

“I would like to tell the citizens that they should not fear, the same, officials and other staff, directors general should work together until our new governor comes and take his oath and we will work together,” said Jene.
