In a press release issued Sunday, the Sudanese foreign ministry said that Ghanodur and Ayrault would discuss bilateral economic cooperation, security challenges and migration.

It added that Ghandour received a written letter from Ayrault in response to a congratulatory message sent by the former on the occasion of his taking office as Franc’s foreign minister.

Ayrault, who is a former prime minister, stressed that he would seek to promote bilateral relationship between the two nations, describing the existing ties as good.

He expressed hope that both nations could discuss issues of common concern particularly with regard to economic cooperation, security challenges in Africa and the Middle East and migration.

Last February, Sudan’s top diplomat visited several European nations and discussed issues of democracy and human rights in the European Union headquarters in Brussels.

Also, he visited Germany, Poland and Switzerland last month where he attended the meeting on Global Responsibility Sharing for Syrian Refugees.
