SPLM-N forces repel two attacks on its positions in S Kordofan
May 19, 2016 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement -North (SPLM-N) said its fighters have managed to repulse two attacks by the government troops in the South Kordofan county of Dilling.
“The enemy fled leaving six soldiers dead and they were pursued to the Shifir area,” Lodi said.
The rebel official added that on Tuesday 14 May another attack had been carried out on Kujuria area. He claimed that the “Sudanese army soldiers attempted to loot civilians cattle”.
Also, he said they killed three soldiers in this second operation.
The warring parties in South Kordofan and Blue Nile states failed to reach a cessation of hostilities paving the way for peace talks to end the nearly five year conflict.
The fighting resume every year at the summer season and stops during the rainy seasons in May until September or October, some times.
In a separate statement, Lodi said they ambushed a Sudanese military mobile unit that left Kosti in the While Nile state heading to the Al-Azrak area in South Kordofan state.
He told Sudan Tribune that the attack occurred between Khordileb and Al Azrak areas.
He said they inflicted heavy casualties on the Sudanese army killing over 50 soldiers and seized significant number of weapons and vehicles.
The Sudanese army spokesperson was not reachable for comment.
