VANCOUVER, Jan 5, 2005 (Dow Jones) — Nevsun Resources Ltd. (NSU.T) has received a letter from the Minister of Energy and Mines of Eritrea requesting a consultation meeting at the company’s earliest convenience.
In a news release, the company said its president and chief executive, John Clarke, has made arrangements to be in Eritrea the week of Jan. 10.
Nevsun, along with all other mineral exploration companies working in Eritrea , has been under a stop work order from the Government of Eritrea since Sept. 2. As reported, no reason was given for the order, which also affected Sanu Resources Ltd. (SNU.V) and Sunridge Gold Corp. (SGC.V).
Nevsun, a mining company, said Wednesday that the request for a meeting from the Minister is “very encouraging.”
