Sudan opens top government jobs to non-partisan applicants
June 27, 2025 (PORT SUDAN) – Sudan’s government has invited the public to apply for senior leadership positions in a new drive to recruit non-partisan technocrats, the state news agency SUNA reported.
The announcement on Thursday did not specify the exact posts available but stipulated that applicants must be Sudanese, have no political party affiliation, and be fluent in Arabic and English. Candidates are also required to hold at least a master’s degree and have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
The move follows a June 19 pledge by Prime Minister Kamil Idris to form a 22-minister government of independent technocrats. Idris said at the time he wanted to build a “central national reservoir” of talent to staff the civil service.
A similar initiative occurred in November 2024 when the government opened seven senior roles to public competition, posts which were previously filled through partisan quotas. However, the authorities never announced the results of those applications.
