August 19, 2025 (WASHINGTON) – The Embassy of Sudan has hired Washington-based lobbying firm The Vogel Group for $40,000 a month to press the U.S. Congress and the executive branch on humanitarian and foreign policy issues, according to a government filing.

The agreement, which began on June 5, 2025, and runs through the end of the year, outlines that the firm will provide “federal executive and legislative branch lobbying and government affairs consulting services”.

The contract was signed on July 14 and filed with the U.S. Department of Justice on August 1 under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

The firm’s work will include “direct engagement” with U.S. officials on “issues related to broader humanitarian and foreign relations policy concerns”.

The activities are defined as political and will involve lobbying, public affairs consulting, and perception management, the filing states.

Firm CEO Alex Vogel, Managing Principal Matt Keelen, and other senior staff will personally manage the account. The contract was signed on behalf of the embassy by Counsellor Abasher A. Khidir Mohamed. In addition to the monthly fee, the embassy will also cover pre-approved travel expenses.

The contract was disclosed in a public filing under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), which requires agents representing the interests of foreign powers in a political or quasi-political capacity to disclose their relationship, activities, and compensation.
