13 civilians killed in RSF shelling of Sudan’s El Fasher, doctors say

October 6, 2025 (EL FASHER) – At least 13 civilians were killed and dozens were injured in artillery shelling by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on neighbourhoods in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, a Sudanese doctors’ group said on Monday.

The attack, which began early on Monday, involved heavy shelling that struck civilian areas, according to the Sudan Doctors Syndicate.

“At least 13 people were killed and 19 others injured, including seven children and a pregnant woman,” the group said in a statement, calling the shelling deliberate.

The Syndicate said many of the dead and wounded could not be reached by rescuers due to the continuous shelling and clashes in the city.

It condemned what it called “continued crimes against unarmed civilians,” noting that most medical facilities in El Fasher are out of service amid dire humanitarian and health conditions.

The statement described the situation as a “full-fledged war crime and a systematic targeting of civilian life,” criticizing what it termed a “shameful international silence.”

The group called on the United Nations and the Security Council to take urgent action to protect civilians and open safe corridors for aid and medical evacuations.

Residents of El Fasher, the historic capital of the Darfur region, have faced severe humanitarian conditions under a siege imposed by the RSF since April 2024.

Local and international aid organisations have repeatedly warned of an impending humanitarian catastrophe in the city if safe passages for food and medical supplies are not opened.
