January 13, 2026 (KHARTOUM) – Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idriss inspected ongoing arrangements at Khartoum International Airport on Tuesday, announcing that the facility is nearing an official reopening following a tour of the site.

The Prime Minister’s visit to the airport was part of a broader inspection of public service institutions, the Cabinet said in a statement. Idriss was accompanied by several high-ranking officials during the tour.

Idriss praised the teams involved in the airport’s rehabilitation and urged Sudanese citizens living abroad and in other states to return to Khartoum. He offered assurances that air traffic would resume in the coming days.

The Sudan Airports Company had previously announced in October that the airport would resume domestic flights after repairs to address damage caused during the facility’s time under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

However, the previous reopening was stalled after the airport was targeted by RSF drone strikes, which damaged several newly rehabilitated facilities.
