Revolutionary Current calls for RSF withdrawal from El Fasher, Bara
October 30, 2025 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – Revolutionary Democratic Current (SPLM-RDC) on Thursday called on the United Nations Security Council and the African Union Peace and Security Council to adopt a resolution demanding the withdrawal of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from the cities of El Fasher and Bara.
In a statement, the movement’s spokesman, Nizar Youssef, condemned the violations committed by the RSF in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, and Bara, in North Kordofan State, describing the two cities as a “moral graveyard for the RSF.”
The statement from the SPLM-RDC, led by Yasir Arman, asserted that the African and international security councils must demand the RSF’s exit from the two cities, especially as there is no reason for fighting within them.
It called for allowing civilians to return to their homes and displacement camps under the supervision of United Nations agencies, and for civilians to be given the freedom to form their own civil administrations to manage their daily lives without interference from the RSF.
The statement also called for the formation of an international committee to investigate the crimes of both parties, through a joint resolution issued by the AU Peace and Security Council, the UN Security Council, and high-level international figures.
The movement indicated that what it termed the “cold-blooded massacre” committed by the RSF in El Fasher clearly illustrates the type of regime that the RSF and its allies could establish.
“These crimes were documented by the RSF themselves, not by their opponents, and they were not individual crimes but systematic and collective ones,” the statement continued. “Silence on this will turn this war into an ethnic war that has no relation to a political agenda.”
The movement’s statement mentioned that the crimes committed against women, the elderly, children, and the sick, in particular, were “shameful and have made El Fasher a moral graveyard.”
It called on all Sudanese men and women to organize together in a campaign to stop the crimes and violations of both parties, protect civilians, and end the war.
Hamdok’s messages
For his part, Abdalla Hamdok, head of the civilian democratic alliance “Samoud,” called on the regional and international community for urgent intervention to address the humanitarian crisis in Sudan caused by the war.
According to a statement from Samoud, Hamdok sent important messages to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the leaders of the African Union, IGAD, the Arab League, the European Union, and several countries with concerns about Sudanese affairs regarding the current situation in the country.
Hamdok warned that the humanitarian situation in Sudan is worsening, and the suffering of millions of internally displaced persons and refugees in neighbouring countries is increasing, which requires urgent action from all parties. He outlined several immediate steps, including the declaration of an immediate ceasefire for humanitarian purposes, followed by a permanent cessation of hostilities that paves the way for a Sudanese-owned and led political process leading to sustainable peace.
He stressed the need to pressure the warring parties to allow full humanitarian access to those in need throughout Sudan, protect humanitarian workers, and fulfil their obligations to protect civilians and stop the targeting of residential areas and widespread human rights violations.
He urged for a redoubling of efforts to mobilize the necessary resources to close the significant funding gap, emphasizing the need to launch a comprehensive humanitarian operation to deliver food and medicine to those in need.
To ensure the efficiency of this comprehensive humanitarian operation, Hamdok called on the United Nations to establish a regional mechanism to coordinate humanitarian action in Sudan.
