November 7, 2025 (TAWILA) – The spokesperson for the General Coordination for Displaced Persons and Refugee Camps in Darfur, Adam Rijal, said that more than 150 women were subjected to rape and sexual harassment during their flight from El Fasher to the Tawila area, 60 kilometres west of the North Darfur capital

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are pursuing those fleeing El Fasher on the roads, gathering some of them in the Gurney area, where thousands of stranded people remain trapped, including children separated from their families.

Rijal confirmed to Sudan Tribune that the number of people injured by gunfire has reached more than 1,300. In contrast, more than 1,210 children suffer from malnutrition, and 700 elderly people are in critical health situations.

The General Coordination for Displaced Persons and Refugee Camps is a civilian body that monitors violations against displaced persons and refugees.

Rijal noted that the number of survivors from El Fasher who reached the Tawila area exceeds 15,000 people, some of whom are suffering from poor health conditions due to injuries and violence.

He called on international and humanitarian organizations to provide life-saving medicines, food, safe water sources, shelter materials, and latrines, in addition to psychosocial support and safe spaces for children traumatized by the horrific scenes they experienced along the way.

He pointed out that the Tawila area, which has received hundreds of displaced people in recent months, is currently hosting more than one million displaced persons, requiring additional support to meet their basic needs.

Displaced families in Tawila, which is under the control of the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) led by Abdel Wahid al-Nur, face extreme difficulties in obtaining drinking water amid complaints of its salinity and severe overcrowding.

Furthermore, the General Coordination for Displaced Persons and Refugee Camps in Darfur stated in a press release on Friday that large numbers of displaced people fleeing the war have arrived at the Kassab camp for the displaced.

According to the Coordination, the number of families reached 193, and they are in dire need of the most basic life necessities.
