November 24, 2025 (NAIROBI) – The commander of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, announced on Monday his agreement to a humanitarian truce involving a three-month cessation of hostilities.

The announcement follows a September 12 agreement by the Quad—comprising the United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt—on a set of principles to end the war. These included an initial three-month truce intended to lead to a permanent ceasefire and a transparent transition process.

“In response to international efforts, led by the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump, we announce the agreement of the RSF and its allies to a three-month truce and a cessation of military actions,” Daglo, known as Hemetti, said in a video address.

Daglo, who also leads the “Tasis” alliance, stated the truce aims to protect civilians and improve humanitarian conditions. He pledged to facilitate aid operations, ensuring the safety of humanitarian workers and unimpeded access to all affected areas.

He also announced his approval of a field-monitoring mechanism supervised by the Quad, the African Union, and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to ensure compliance and safe aid delivery.

Addressing potential violations, Daglo affirmed a commitment to holding accountable anyone involved in abuses against civilians. He stated that professional investigations were underway and that justice would be served in accordance with national and international laws.

Daglo described the truce as a first step toward a comprehensive political solution to the crisis. He declared his commitment to a political path that includes all parties, excluding the Islamic Movement and the National Congress Party.
