RSF official accuses army of targeting Nyala fuel market
December 25, 2025 (NYALA) – The head of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) civil administration in South Darfur state, Youssef Idris Youssef, on Thursday, accused the Sudanese army of targeting a fuel market in the city of Nyala.
For more than three consecutive days, drones have carried out intensive airstrikes on strategic RSF positions, including Nyala International Airport and its surroundings, military sites in the Al-Goumhouria and Al-Riyadh neighbourhoods, as well as locations in the city centre and training camps. According to eyewitnesses, the strikes have caused heavy losses.
Youssef said in a press statement that “Sudanese army aircraft bombed a fuel market in Nyala.” He condemned the incident, claiming that targeting markets is a systematic policy used by the “remnant army”, a term used by the RSF to refer to the military, to target unarmed civilians.
Images and videos circulating on social media showed a massive fire resulting from the destruction of large quantities of fuel drums in the market and surrounding warehouses. E
Shortly after the airstrikes, local sources said RSF intelligence carried out random arrests of civilians and military personnel. They were detained near the targeted site and the Nyala Grand Market on suspicion of collaborating with the army and providing coordinates for military sites and markets.
The RSF has converted several civilian institutions in the South Darfur capital, including the University of Nyala student dormitories, into centres for assembling and training foreign mercenaries and Sudanese fighters, according to military sources. Sources said the training includes operating drones.
