February 10 2026 (KADUGLI) – Sudan’s federal health ministry sent more than 100 tonnes of medical supplies and equipped ambulances to Kadugli in South Kordofan state on Tuesday, marking the first major aid injection since the lifting of a long-standing blockade.

The Sudanese army ended a siege of more than two years on February 3 following a military operation launched from the state’s eastern regions. The offensive moved through Habila and Dilling before reaching the South Kordofan capital.

The prolonged isolation led to famine conditions in Kadugli, where the United Nations reports that approximately 147,000 people, roughly 80% of the population, have been displaced. The city of Dilling faced similar humanitarian hardships until its supply lines to North Kordofan were restored in late January.

In a statement on Tuesday, the health ministry said a delegation arrived with a shipment delivered via the National Medical Supplies Fund. The aid includes more than 100 tonnes of supplies and ambulances provided by the National Agency for Emergency Care and Ambulance to bolster hospitals and health centres in Kadugli and surrounding areas.

Ministry officials confirmed that supplies would be distributed to health facilities based on urgent needs, with a strict priority for emergency services and life-saving care.

This delivery represents the first direct federal intervention in the city’s health sector since the reopening of the road linking Habila, Dilling, and Kadugli.

The ministry added that the health convoy was organised under the direction of Ali Babikir Sayed Ahmed Mohammed, the undersecretary of the federal health ministry, with support from Health Minister Haitham Mohammed Ibrahim as part of a wider effort to restore services in war-affected regions.
