June 14, 2026 (EL OBEID) – Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) drones launched airstrikes on the North Kordofan state capital of El Obeid for the fifth consecutive day on Sunday, primarily targeting fuel supplies.

The RSF has intensified its drone attacks on El Obeid in recent days, focusing on service stations. The bombardment also expanded to a fuel station in Tendelti, a town in White Nile state located on the highway leading to El Obeid.

Local sources told Sudan Tribune that RSF drones struck the eastern neighbourhoods of El Obeid on Sunday, hitting a fuel station in the Airport district and a fuel storage tank.

Witnesses reported seeing plumes of smoke rising from multiple locations across the city.

Around five fuel stations have been destroyed or set ablaze by the drone strikes, threatening fuel supplies in North Kordofan’s largest city.

East of El Obeid, the RSF shelled Al Rahad, one of the most prominent towns in North Kordofan state. The bombardment hit locations near the town’s main market, causing widespread panic and tension due to the sound of explosions.

The RSF maintains positions around El Obeid, stationed in Um Samima to the west, Bara to the north, and Kazgail to the south. Meanwhile, the Sudanese army and its allied forces retain control over the eastern road connecting El Obeid to Kosti in White Nile state.

The RSF also controls the export highway leading to northern El Obeid, which connects Omdurman to the state capital. Paramilitary forces are stationed in Bara, the second-largest city in North Kordofan, and several points along this route.

Since the outbreak of the conflict in April 2023, El Obeid has withstood repeated RSF attempts to seize control of the strategic city, which serves as a vital operational hub for the Sudanese army.
