July 24, 2026 (KHARTOUM) – Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan vowed on Friday to eradicate the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and any group supporting them, ruling out a return to past arrangements with the paramilitary group.

His comments come as international efforts to secure a humanitarian truce and bring both sides to the negotiating table remain stalled. The conflict between the army and the RSF has been raging since mid-April 2023.

Speaking after Friday prayers at the Al-Hadrab Mosque in Shambat, Khartoum North, Burhan pledged to expel what he termed the “rebel RSF militia.” He assured citizens that “this harsh experience” would never be repeated.

“There will be no place for the rebel militia or those who supported and backed them after today,” Burhan told the congregation.

He emphasized that seeking justice for victims and reclaiming rights stripped during the war remain non-negotiable duties for the military leadership.

Burhan paid tribute to fallen soldiers, praising those who sacrificed their lives to defend the country’s dignity and sovereignty.

He also commended residents of the Shambat neighbourhood for supporting the armed forces, pointing to the area’s historical role in fostering education, community support, and civic values.

The army commander reiterated that the Sudanese public remains the true foundation for protecting state institutions.

He urged all social groups to remain united to navigate current challenges and counter external threats that aim to undermine Sudan’s sovereignty.
