October 29, 2026 (KARNOI) – Five people, including two women and a child, were killed in drone attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeting areas in the Karnoi locality of North Darfur state.

The Karnoi Emergency Rooms Coordination Council said in a report issued Wednesday that the security situation in the area has escalated since Tuesday morning.

The escalation included simultaneous ground operations and cattle rustling, alongside RSF drone strikes targeting various areas, the council said.

A drone strike hit a gathering of civilians in the Shartaba area on Tuesday evening, killing two women and a child and injuring three others, the report detailed.

Another drone attack targeted the Gadir area, killing two people.

In a separate development, the council reported that the Togi area faced a ground attack on Wednesday morning.

A complete communications blackout in the area has prevented the council from assessing casualties, it said, adding that the security situation remains tense and prone to further escalation.

Last March, the RSF and its allies launched a major military operation in North Darfur’s northwestern localities to take control of Um Baru, Karnoi, and Tine.

The Sudanese army and its backers in the Joint Force repelled the attacks.

The RSF faces accusations of committing violations amounting to war crimes and crimes against humanity affecting thousands of civilians in these areas, forcing many to flee toward neighbouring Chad.

Karnoi has previously faced RSF drone attacks targeting markets, water sources, and civilian vehicles transporting food supplies.

Those past attacks killed significant numbers of civilians and forced remaining residents to flee into caves and mountains.
